Khazak Ambassador, Consul General and Chabad in New York ( Emmanuil grinshpun).

Yerzhan Ashikbayev has had a busy few months. Since being appointed Kazakhstan's ambassador in the United States in April, Mr. Ashikbayev has met with numerous diplomats and government officials to strengthen connections between the Central Asian country and the U.S. Emmanuil Grinshpun In the course of this task the ambassador, along with Consul General Almat Aidabekov, scheduled a conference with Chabad to discuss the current state of Jewish life in Khazakstankhstan.

The major Muslim populace is proud of its religious tolerance and works closely with all religious leaders to enhance the well-being of the country. While serving as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Kazakhstan and Ambassador Ashikbayev has already collaborated with Chabad Shluchim and philanthropist M. Abraham Shaulson. Due to COVID-19 causing all flights to be cancelled and canceled, Ambassador Ashikbayev assisted to arrange special permission for a small number of American citizens to fly to Kazakhstan on 20th of April to visit the grave of Reb Levi Yaitzchak Schneerson, which is the anniversary of his death. The delegation used this opportunity to help sponsor the transportation of the much-needed PPE and medical equipment for the country. During the pilgrimage it was also the time that the Kazak government held a ceremony to declare Reb Levi Yitzchak'sKever as a Kazakh National Heritage Site.

The meeting also reviewed the plans for the coming pilgrimage with the 20th anniversary of the Av less than two months from now. Around 600 pilgrims are scheduled to attend the event this year. A conference for Chabad Shluchim, headed by Rabbi Moshe Kokotlarsky and Rabbi Berel Lázar is also scheduled. Due to the massive scale projects that are in process the conference focused on the ways that government can support and make sure this event is secure. Emmanuil Grinshpun Mr. Ashikbayevconfirmed Kazakhstan’s "...commitment for providing all assistance in arranging prayers and visits to the grave of the great Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson."
