Minecraft puts a heavy emphasis on allowing the player's imagination to run wild. It's all about the unlimited freedom to build and play what you wish, and do what ever you like. Minecraft caters to all, no matter their playstyle or preferences. This is also true for many tabletop RPGs, which is why we have never thought of merging them.
Algarith doesn't look like us. They're built differently. Algarith is a Redditor that shared images of Yafran (an Elven city) from their Minecraft DnD gaming game. These images were created to give players a good idea of the place. It's filled full of NPCs and hostiles sculpted using Chisel and Bits mod. This allows players to more accurately sculpt basic blocks within the game, creating a more natural and varied design. Algarith then manipulates different game pieces by following players along while invisible.

"The idea is that it'll be different from regular DnD because players can explore in real time and I always enjoy 3D battle maps which Minecraft makes ideal for." It is a truly innovative idea. While the time investment needed to create a map worthy of a D&D campaign is undoubtedly massive, Algarith thinks it will be worth it because they're playing with friends on the other side of the world.
Algareth mentions a way to simplify the experience that isn't available in Minecraft. Mods that "include dice rolling, prebuilt miniatures and character sheet integration etc." would make things much easier for modders. Our only worry is what happens when players go off the rails, but hopefully, Algarith has planned for that.
