How To Create A Free Minecraft Bedrock Server

This server is completely gratuitous and powerful enough to run a Bedrock Server. A similar amount of RAM costs $5 per month.

Unless you choose to, you won't be charged.

Next, we need to create an virtual machine to run our Server

Fill in the fields as shown

Scroll down to Section 'Images and shapes'. Make sure that "Canonical Ubuntu 20.04" is selected, then check that the shape is set to AMD VM.Standard.E2.1.Micro

Note: The preset shape may not support Ubuntu. In this case, you can simply change the shape to the one shown, and then change the Image.

Next, we need to choose a virtual network (VCN). If you have an existing VCN that has a public subnet, select it. If you do not have an existing VCN with a public subnet, choose 'Create another virtual cloud network'. Next, select 'Create an public subnet' and agree to the default names. Finally, make sure that 'Assign a public IPv4 address' is selected (otherwise you couldn't connect to this server from the internet! ).

Now we need an "SSH” key pair to associate with this VM. If you're familiar with this concept and already have a public key that you want to use, choose 'Upload public key files' and upload your public key. If this is your first time using SSH keys, these keys will allow you securely log in to the server. Minecraft servers Click 'Generate SSH keys pair' to save your private key and public keys on your local machine. These keys will be used to log in to the VM in a matter of seconds.

You will need your Private Key to log in later so don’t lose it.

Click 'Create' to leave the default boot volume settings.

Once you click 'Create,' you will be redirected directly to the VM details page. Your VM instance will now be in a PROVISIONING status.

After about 30-60 seconds, your state will switch to RUNNING. Find your public IP address, and copy it.

Next, we must open ports for players to connect to the server.

Then click add Ingress Rules

We need to connect to our VM remotely in order to install the Minecraft software. If you are not familiar with SSH, I recommend that you first read up on it

Powershell can be used to connect to Windows if you are using windows, which is most likely. Open Powershell and type this: powershell -i (filepath to your private keys) ubuntu@ (VM ip addresses)

BEFORE: Before you do this, make sure to research how to protect your private key file. It won't work otherwise.

This is how it looks if you successfully log into your virtual machine

Next, you will need multiple programs installed to get started.

These commands are to be used:

sudo aptget install firewalld

These commands will install firewall access, and screen to keep your server running after you start it.

Next, enter powershell during your ssh session

sudo firewall cmd --permanent -zone=public --addport=19132/tcp

sudo firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-port=19132/udp

sudo firewall-cmd --reload

Then:

sudo su - Minecraft

mkdir Bedrock

wget https://minecraft.azureedge.net/bin-linux/bedrock-server-1.17.2.01.zip -O server.zip

unzip server.zip

rm server.zip

If necessary visit https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download/server/bedrock and check the latest download link and substitute it.

Next, run these commands

chmod +x ./bedrock_server

This last command will launch your server:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./bedrock_server

You can now connect with your server using the VM’s IP and the standard port. The name is not important.

But if you close the terminal, your server will also stop. You'll need stop your server by closing the window or typing "stop" and then logging back in.

cd Bedrock

) Then type in screen and hit enter

Then, run the following command: LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./bedrock_server

Now you should have a functioning bedrock servers with 1GB RAM and 1xenon core. This server can be used by at least 20 players. You can also do this for Java servers by clicking this link.
