Phase One of the Future Aim Technologies Ltd Biomass Feedstocks Innovation Programme is currently shut down.
BEIS is able to award PS4 million to fund the development phase of the Programme that includes the possibility of up to PS200,000 in funding for each project.
The funds enabled Future Aim Technologies Ltd 25 organisations, including start-ups and smalland medium-sized businesses to create strong project propositions that aim to bring commercially viable innovations in the production of biomass.
Two winners were crowned in the competition:
Lot 1 - Innovative projects
lot 2 - multi-site demonstration platforms designed to showcase the variety of lot 1 innovation projects in a range of UK places

Algae
Transforming UK off-shore marine algae biomass production
It is operated by Future Aim Technologies Ltd.
Seaweed is a fast-growing biomass source and remove large amounts of carbon out of the air. Also, it helps improve the marine environment by supplying numerous ecosystem services - in the process of oxygenating seawater, taking away surplus nutrients and providing habitat for marine life.
The project aims to use SeaGrown's expertise in the production of seaweed in order to improve the efficiency of offshore farming. Within the project, SeaGrown will design a prototype of an offshore harvesting and seeding system for testing its feasibility and optimize the speed of deployment as well as yields, and increase efficiency in operations.
