Minecraft multiplayer is not available for everyone. This means that you can only play the game with your friends. That's fine. Playing Minecraft on your own can be a lot of fun. It's not as much fun if you don't have the option.
Mc List
What can you do if Minecraft multiplayer is not available to you? The good news is that there are some possible solutions. Follow the advice we are about to share with you, and see how you get on. All being well, you'll be experiencing the delights of multiplayer in no time.
How To Fix Minecraft Multiplayer Not Working
There are several possible solutions to the Minecraft multiplayer minefield. Let's go over these now.
Make sure Multiplayer is enabled
Although it may seem obvious, you can have the right multiplayer settings enabled in your game environment. It's a relatively simple process:
Start by opening Minecraft. Next, find the world where you want to play multiplayer. The pencil symbol should be located next to the relevant realm. This is the Edit button. This button is hit. - Click this button to open Settings. You need to ensure that Multiplayer Game is toggled on. This will also allow you to specify who is allowed to join the game.
- If you have these settings set, you should be able play multiplayer.

Check Your Microsoft Account Settings
If the first solution doesn't fix the problem, then the next thing to check is your Microsoft account settings. Most account settings are designed to protect children. There are many functions that the Microsoft account can perform with Minecraft.
First, regardless what platform you play on, a Microsoft accounts is what links all Minecraft accounts across all platforms. It also facilitates multiplayer. It is possible that your Microsoft account is blocking online play if you are using Xbox or PC.
- First off, make sure you have a relevant active subscription for playing online games. This applies, for example, to Xbox Game Pass, or PS Plus. This could explain why you can't play multiplayer games online if you don’t have the subscription.
- Assuming this isn't the issue, check your Microsoft account privacy settings, to see whether this is preventing you from joining multiplayer games. This is especially important for children under 18 as parental controls could have prevented them from playing online. If this is the case, then tweaking the settings to enable multiplayer should resolve the issue.
Some Other Possible Fixes
The two most common fixes to Minecraft multiplayer not being working are those we've already described. But in case neither of these work, there are some additional checks you can make:
- If you're using a VPN, try switching it off. P2P connections may be blocked by a VPN in certain cases.
Ensure you have UPnP enabled. Universal Plug and Play is the protocol your console uses to play multiplayer games and chat. Your router may not be set up to allow multiplayer gaming. Sometimes, your router might need to be updated before you can enable it. After confirming that you have the latest update installed, follow the steps below to verify. You will usually find the first-time assistance on this topic in the router manual or manufacturer's support page.
- Now, turn the UPnP setting on and save your changes.
- Restart your console, your modem, and your router.
- Turn the UPnP setting back on and save your changes. If there's a Zero Config setting, make sure that's turned on as well.
- Restart your router and modem.
If you still have trouble with any of the solutions, we recommend reaching to Minecraft Support.

What Causes the Minecraft Multiplayer not Working Error?
As you will see, there may be many reasons why Minecraft multiplayer does not work. They all boil down to three things:
- Minecraft settings
Microsoft account settings
- Router settings
These are the main reason you cannot play multiplayer. There are other reasons we haven't mentioned, like not having an active subscription to online gaming.
No matter what your issue is, the fixes we suggest are your best chance of solving it. You'll then be able to enjoy the full Minecraft multiplayer game experience.
