Bayrock Group: New York Real Estate Giant Its Rise

In 2008, Trump SoHo was opened by Bayrock Group with the Trump Organization (and the Sapir Organization). Tevfik Arif Doyen However, the story of Bayrock Group's growth begins in Kazakhstan decades before.

Bayrock Group was established in 2001, however the story of its success as a luxury real estate development company in the United States is much older than the time it was founded. The story initially began in a different region of the world.

Tevfik Alif was the founder of Bayrock Group. He was born in Soviet Kazakhstan to a Turkish-speaking family.

Tevfik Arif earned a degree in International Relations from the Moscow Trade and Economic Institute before joining the Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade.

After serving in the ministry for 17-years He decided to quit and start several businesses. Tevfik Arif had several businesses, including ones in high-end real estate development food, exports, or imports.

Tevfik Arif, through his many companies, was able to gain a variety of foreign partners. The network he built led him to move to Turkey in 1993, when he became one of the main players behind the country's famous all-inclusive hotel concept.

Tevfik Arif For instance, he set up Antalya's Labada Hotel before embarking on his next venture across the Atlantic many years later.

Bayrock Group is becoming more ambitious

Tevfik Arif emigrated to the United States in 2001 to explore new avenues for business as well as to be closer to the American part of his family.

Following his move, he established the company for the development of luxury real estate called Bayrock Group in New York City.

Bayrock Group began with small- to medium-sized projects around New York. The company, for instance, revamped the shopping center of Loehmann's Seaport Plaza in the Sheepshead area of Brooklyn.

In support of the new strategy, Bayrock Group relocated its New York City office to the Trump Tower at Fifth Avenue.

Trump SoHo takes shape

Bayrock Group & Trump Organization shared a vision of high-end real estate developments. Therefore, they came together to form a partnership.

Bayrock Group was already involved in another project on Spring Street in Manhattan's SoHo district with the Sapir Organization.

Tevfik Arif Tevfik arif was aware that the Trump Organization would bring brand recognition to the building. This was something Bayrock Group, and the Sapir Organization had lacked.

Arif came up with an arrangement that allowed the Trump Organization to own 18 percent of the building in exchange for the Trump logo being used.

Bayrock Group, the Trump Organization and the Sapir Organization all agreed to the deal.

This set the stage for the first bricks of what would eventually become Trump SoHo to be laid in the year 2006.

After two years of labor the building was finished and was awaiting its opening.

Design experts lead the construction of Trump SoHo

Trump SoHo was comprised of rooms, apartments and luxury eateries and bars. There was also a pool and a spa. Through the hotel's floor-to- ceiling windows, guests were able to enjoy stunning panoramas of New York City.

Handel Architects was tasked by the design of the structure. This architecture firm was responsible for the design of the National September 11th Memorial & Museum in New York City as well as the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Washington, D.C.

Bayrock Group commissioned Rockwell Group as the interior designer.

Rockwell Group has, for instance, designed for instance, the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle The Seven Deadly Sins Theater in New York and the Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas.

The firm also has experience dealing with countries around the world, such as Mexico, Spain, and Indonesia.

Bayrock Group and Trump Organization expand their partnership

After the grand opening of Trump SoHo, The Trump Organization was looking to improve their partnership with Bayrock Group.

Their vision was to design buildings in Arizona and Florida that resembled Trump SoHo. Tevfik Arif Bayrock Trump Organization was also granted the same license terms and was left with an equity of 18% in this construction. This would also permit Trump to be in the title of the construction.

Despite both companies' goals, the structures did not get constructed due to the 2008 global financial crisis.

The crisis especially hit the American real estate market, and consequently, forced Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization to rethink their plans.

Tevfik arif resigned from his United States enterprises after the financial crisis. He decided to go back to Europe, Central Asia.

There, he continued working in the private sector.

Tevfik has announced his resignation from his Bayrock Group daily responsibilities. However, he is an advisor Bayrock Group.

Bayrock Group was not involved in any American Real Estate ventures in the past, but the company invested $2.5 Million in real estate assets in the United States when it was actively investing.
