Are you going on long vacation away from home, and you need to have digital resources? Don't forget digital materials!
Here's a story about my excursion to the Arctic on a boat. It sounded fantastic, National Geographic trip thru the ice, and back, along with Polar bears, and numerous other wildlife. There was going be frozen ice that eyes could see, snow, and ice everywhere. Man-made machinery was designed to fight the elements and navigate through the frozen northern wilderness. It sounded like a magnificent task, an epic combat with the north and the weather, as well as the pole.

I was advised by my supervisor to bring along all the technology I could. To make my work space larger I packed my laptop. Electricity was not an issue, as they told me. I wasn't quite aware of what was about to occur. 2 days into the 14-day trip I did not know of the fact that my Internet connection would cease to function and I would go missing for the following 10 days. It was a complete shock to me when it was happening. Every trip, however difficult or distant, should result in a surprise disconnection from the world of technology and communication, especially in the 21st century. While I've got unfinished business to take care during the coming week, but I also did not plan for downtime.


The majority of people don't mind if they must disconnect from the internet. Internet is all around. If your internet connection is slow at times and you are unable to connect, try to locate an McDonalds nearby and join their free WiFi. Bring your laptop to a Starbucks and use their WiFi free connection to access the Internet whenever you want. No cafe or restaurant can help you up north. It's a long way to the closest generator that produces electricity. There isn't any internet connection accessible. Two alternatives are available in these situations: switch off the internet and bring satellite internet.

A sat-phone is expensive and I'm not able to afford it. Next time, I'll have a huge collection of audio and videos before I venture out into the unknown. The last time I checked, I had two tracks. They were downloaded accidentally back in the past, and I was limited my choices of music to three songs from jazz and one song that I didn't recognize. This is it. 4 songs for 2 Weeks of Insanity. I'd have planned ahead if I had known this was the case. keep youtube video I would have packed my computer with television shows movies, as well as a lot of music videos. My top podcasts are the soundtrack to my daily life. It's simple to download them, then convert to MP3 and save them to my computer. I can then lie in my bedroom listening to the podcasts that I enjoy, but rarely have the time to listen. That would have been my gold hour, or two weeks' worth of gold. But, it turned out to be two weeks of staring at the ceiling and sprinting to catch passengers when there was a noise from the corridors.

The trip was empty literally and metaphorically. I've never felt as bored. I knew the problem would eventually arise from the thick ice, so the boat was forced to turn around and be pulled back to the shores of civilization. Although this wasn't a surprise but there were alternatives. Many hours of idle time could be spent listening to podcasts or DIY videos on fixing issues at home, or listening to music. Next time , I'll convert Youtube videos into MP4 and mp3 formats using my laptop. bring them with me and enjoy my most-loved songs from my laptop. Music can help lift your spirits. It is possible to download Netflix and Hulu movies to your phone to watch offline. They can also be carried on the long journey across the arctic. Be sure to not spend your time sat in a boring place. Have fun!
