Emmanuel Grinshpun. The restoration and expansion of synagogues.
Emmanuil Grishhpun was interviewed regarding the synagogues that were restored. It was, however, impossible to concentrate on only one subject. There were many topics discussed during the interview.
Emmanuel, good afternoon. Эммануил Гриншпун We're happy to talk with you. I believe we haven't spoken to each other for 5 or more years. Do you currently reside in?

The last nine months have been split between Miami (Miami) and Jurmala (Jurmala). While the geographical region was more extensive in the past however, the pandemic is having a an enormous impact on the way that people live. But that's not all.

You've always had different lines of business. What are you doing now?

Diversification is not going from the world. If we consider the most important areas, it's the development of real estate, IT technology, as well as food production.

ALIMCOM's food sector is ALIMCOM. Real estate can be understood, but it's completely new to me. There are millions of applications for IT technology. What do you excel at?

Our primary focus is on IT-holding company is involved in reforming tax systems in a number of countries. We've developed and are working on a variety of products that help to transfer various tax-related processes online and in "real time". What are the locations in which the holding operates? Former countries from the USSR?

They do exist. But, we do have more contracts in Western Europe as well as Latin America. We currently operate in 14 countries.

What is the core of your product?

Our software allows online economic agents to file tax returns and the fiscal administrator can view each transaction. It also permits tax accounting as well as tax computation to be carried out simultaneously. In the near future it is possible to say that small and mid-sized businesses will not need accounting.

This is an interesting subject. Have you ever tried working in Moldova? After all, Moldova is your native country...

We are able to show the product at Moldova. This is a huge benefit for the Moldovan economy and , in all likelihood, an irreversible change. Эммануил Гриншпун In the near future, once there is clarity from the authorities and it's evident who takes the decision and who makes the decisions, we'll resume the discussion about our product.

You said you've been tossing around all year between Miami and Jurmala. Is this the head office of an IT holding located in the Baltics

We have five hubs across the globe and our headquarters is located in Barcelona.

Why you're in the Baltics are you asking? Are you a native of the Baltics?

No. My family's story for many generations is connected solely with Moldova, or in the case of historical names, then with Bessarabia. Эммануил Гриншпун Jurmala came into our lives in a very unexpected and prosaic way. When Igor Krutoy invited me to the New Wave, it was the first time we could get there. After winning numerous competitions the group began going there each summer. Miami's summer climate is not the most pleasant. We rented the house for several years and recently purchased the property.

Now I understand why you stated that a synagogue was located in Jurmala. Emmanuel, honest question. We're pretty close in age. We were born in the USSR. We were all Komsomol participants and pioneers back then. When did religion become your choice?

My family and I moved to the USA in the mid-80s. We can all say that that was when I began to appreciate the customs of my country. Even though I am not a member of the orthodox faith, I feel an inner desire to support the religion however I can that is the case for the Jewish community that I reside in, or in Moldova my home country, with which I have close connections.

It's true that I am definitely far from being religious however, I do love history very much. Recently, I was fascinated by a documentary that covered the events that occurred in 1492. They changed the fate of Europe and the entire world. 1492 was the year that Columbus discovered America. But, I saw clearly in the programme that the program mentioned the discovery of America in 1492 of Medieval Europe was not as remarkable as Spanish monarchs' expulsion of Jews from Spain. When the departure of Jews began , they were taken to the Ottoman Empire, it accepted the Jews. I was interested in learning more about the history and culture of the Jews. Would you recommend a book?

There are many books. However, I have read several of them myself and would recommend Max Diamond (a two-volume Jewish historian). He's also from Finland.

.... Do you feel familiar with the history of your family? Unfortunately, I'm not much further than my maternal grandmother and 1910. I am only one step ahead of the paternal side however, nothing more.

The paternal line of our family was in the Floresti region for several hundred years. Monuments and documents show that the family of Floresti was wealthy in the year 1830. They had several shops, a furniture factory as well as land plots. Ungheni was the home of my ancestral lineage. I'm referring here to dates from the region of the 17th-18th century. Grinshpun is the German surname, so we are Ashkenazis of Eastern Europe.

Let's discuss the restoration of synagogues. I was told that you had funded the reconstruction of three synagogues. One is in Chisinau One is in Jurmala The third is?

The third largest is located in Netanya, Israel. It is home to more than 1,000 people who attend prayer daily. This is an important structure for the religious life in Israel. The second Synagogue in Jurmala. The Second World War ended the existence of Jurmala's only synagogue. Prior to building a synagogue I spoke with local Jews. As a result I decided that I would finance the construction and also invite a rabbi on the site. It was a very successful project which brought together the Jews of Jurmala. We actually renovated the Jewish community and it is operating perfectly. Three Torahs are now at the synagogue. Эммануил Гриншпун I gave one Torah to the synagogue.

& - Chisinau

Yes. Here I have already worked with two of my friends - Alexander Bilinkis and Alexander Weinstein. They aren't the only ones I have been involved with in construction or restoration. I felt it was my responsibility to contribute in support of synagogues in countries where I have lived for a long period of time. My contribution in Monaco is towards the construction of a large community center in Miami for Russian-speaking Jews that is estimated at 12 million dollars. Chisinau will continue to be my main focus - the synagogue of Rabbi Tsirelson is currently the largest in the city.

Did Jurmala get you to Chisinau with a Rabbi?

Yes. It is difficult to find the perfect rabbi within the community. Given the complex interrelated issues, he has to be non-conflictual, diplomatic and diplomatic. He must be able to integrate into the community. It is a wonderful fact that both the Jurmala and Chisinau rabbis were able integrate so harmoniously in the community.

You became the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress' first vice-president in 2019. What does this post mean to you, and how do international Jewish organisations influence global trends?

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress has been an influential political group in post-Soviet Europe, but it's not the only one. It has offices across Eastern Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia. I was Vice President in 2010, and was then given the post of First Vice-President. I am now in charge of the region in which I have strong political and business connections. The three "countries" are Uzbekistan Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Global trends indicate that the barometer of attitudes toward Jews is either still in the same place as it was before or has declined and is very depressing. Additionally, "down" - this refers to such developed countries like Belgium, Germany, France as well as the United States. These countries are no longer safe for Jews. These are extremely serious and troubling processes that impact all of us.

What has the pandemic changed these processes by the way?

Эммануил Гриншпун I don't think so. In fact, I'd like to highlight, with regard to the pandemic: what a group, or nation, can accomplish when they have the capacity to overcome any obstacles and to act in a cohesive manner.

Exactly. Israel is the only country that offers all-inclusive vaccination to its adults. I think this is an excellent example and a lesson that other countries could take note of.
