Are you planning a long trip away from home? Before WiFi is unavailable ensure you have enough digital material.
I'd like to tell you a story from my last Arctic boat trip. It sounded fantastic, National Geographic trip through the ice and back , with Polar bears as well as other wildlife. There would be ice wherever eyes could look and snow all around. Man-made machines were going to take on the elements and move thru the frozen northern wasteland. It was awe-inspiring, an epic battle against the weather, north and pole.

I was advised by my supervisor to bring along every piece of technology I could. I did pack my laptop, and also a big display screen to extend the workspace. The electricity was not a problem according to the information they gave me. It would be a tough task however, I wasn't sure what to expect. I did not realize that I would be disconnected from my internet two days into my 14 day journey and disappear completely from Earth for the next 10 days. https://y2mate.stream/ It was a shock to me when it happened. I was shocked that any excursion, however difficult or distant, would result in a sudden disconnect from the technological world. Not even in 21st Century. There was no doubt that there was some unfinished business that I had to resolve in the week that followed and I did not plan for the downtime.

It doesn't matter if you need to leave your home. Internet is available wherever you are. In case your home connection goes down and you are unable to connect, there is always the nearest McDonalds nearby and make use of their free WiFi to access the information you need. Bring your laptop to the nearest Starbucks and use their WiFi free connection to browse the Internet at your leisure. Up north, there is no cafe or restaurant to assist you. You are a long way away from the closest electricity source. There isn't any internet connection accessible. In such a situation, there are 2 escape routes: prepare to be offline from home or get satellite connection.

I can't afford a Sat phone. It's too costly, particularly to get Internet access. But , next time, I'll make a complete collection of audio and video before I head out into the unknown without Internet. Last time I had two songs. Both of them were downloaded in the past. I was unable to enjoy three easy jazz tracks or one song that is famous. All I can say is. 4 songs in 2 weeks of Insanity. I would have prepared had I knew that this was the case. I would have filled my laptop with movies, TV shows, and a bunch of music videos. I would listen to my favorite podcasts for hours. It's simple to download the podcasts, then convert them into MP3 and save them on my computer. Then I can just relax in my bed and enjoy whatever I want to hear at home, but don't have the time for. It would have been my golden hour or 2 weeks of gold, but it ended up being 2 weeks of staring into the ceiling and running out to meet passengers every when a sound is heard in the corridors..


Both metaphorically and literally In both ways, the journey was empty. Never have I ever been so bored. I knew that the ice was thick and that the boat would have no other choice than to turn around and get back to civilization. It wasn't a shock however it meant that hours and hours of unproductive time could have been utilized for listening to podcasts or watch videos for DIY home repairs, as being able to listen to music. Next time I'll convert YouTube videos to mp4 and MP3 formats on my laptop. Music will never make you feel sad. Be aware that Netflix and Hulu apps let you download films and shows to your computer to view offline. These can also be carried on long trips to the arctic. You don't want to waste time bored. Enjoy yourself!
