[Update: Nov. 05] New Minecraft Launcher Not Working, Update Or Installation Problem Surfaces

Minecraft isn't just a videogame, it's a phenomenon that has been enjoyed by everyone. Minecraft is a popular video game with over 140 million users each month.



Mojang Studios regularly updates the game because it is an online game. Some of these can cause serious problems.



Some players complained recently that their Xbox and Nintendo Switch games were missing animals, villagers, or armor stands.



According to recent reports (1.2,3,4,5.6,7.8,8), many Minecraft players are experiencing issues with the launcher. While some say that the game fails to launch with several errors popping up, some say that the launcher does not load for them.



Having said that, the game is unplayable for everyone affected by the new Minecraft launcher not working issue. We can just hope Minecraft developers take a look into the matter and acknowledge it.



Below is one of the many errors Minecraft players are encountering.



Whenever I try to start my minecraft launcher, I keep getting this error message: "Minecraft Launcher is currently not available in your account. Make sure you are signed in to the Store and try again. Here's the error code. It would be great to get some assistance. (Source)



Hello all! I just installed the new minecraft launcher through the xbox app on Windows 11. The only problem is that it resets every time i launch it. My profiles don't save and I have to log in again each time. Anyone else having this issue? (Source)



Hello! I tried to installed the new launcher today, but when I tried to launch it, it didn't open. Nothing indicated that it was functioning. I tried reinstalling Minecraft, uninstalling the old launcher and other things. But it won't let me open. Using the old launcher again now, and it works perfectly save for the fact it spams me with the prompt to uninstall the old launcher. Do you have any ideas as to what could be wrong? (Source)



This is not the only issue Minecraft gamers are currently facing. Some have also complained that they are facing problems installing the new launcher.



So, I open the launcher and a red bar appears at bottom announcing my "fancy" new launcher. I click it and it takes me to the Microsoft store, where I click Install. Then... nothing happens. Welcome to tlauncher club No download window, no progress bar or downloads folder. What is wrong? (Source)



I can't install the new windows 10 Minecraft launcher, I can't install it from microsoft store for some reason and downloading the file doesn't work too (Source)



The Optifine installation issue is another problem. Many are reporting that the Optifine edition of the game is not available for installation. Some report that their system is even crashing due to it.



My computer crashes everytime I try to reinstall Optifine so I can play minecraft on the new launcher. (They unified Java launchers and bedrock launchers). Any suggestions? (Source)

But as it turns out, it is not Minecraft developers' fault and an issue with Optifine itself. Since then, the company has acknowledged the problem and promised a fix soon.



Small Update to the Announcement: Currently, updating your Minecraft launcher causes OptiFine's installer to not work properly, it won't find the new launcher_profiles.json file. Reported here: https://github.com/sp614x/optifine/issues/6355. Once the fix is available, it will be announced. Kai (Source).



The number of issues with the launcher indicates it wasn't ready for a public release yet. If and when Mojang Studio acknowledged the issues with the new Minecraft launcher not working for many, we will update this space with more information.



Update 1 (November 4th)



1:19 PM (IST). The game maker acknowledged that the Minecraft launcher wasn't working and said they are working to fix it.
