How To Play Minecraft On LAN [TLauncher]

The game has long introduced the option to create a local server in your own world, and all who are on your local network will be able to connect to your server. While everything is fairly straightforward, there are many limitations. In this article, we will go over each one in detail. Select the configuration type that you want and follow the steps.



Server configuration when you are connected to the same Wi Fi network or LAN network as another player



This setting is best if you have multiple computers that are close together and are connected to the same Wi-Fi network or LAN network (connected via cable).



Windows: Open the Start menu on the PC where you want to start the server. Type cmd in the search box to open this program.



In the opened window, enter ipconfig. Look for your IP address, which begins with 192.168.*. *, for instance, 192.168.1.47. Stevelarese.com (Yours will be different!). Copy it.



MacOS: To find your local IP, open Terminal (you may use the Mac search to find it), type in ifconfig *, and then copy it.



Go to your World and click Open to LAN in the Pause menu. You will see a message in the chat about the successful opening of your server.



Open the version with the Til icon on another PC. (also, the game version must be the same on both PCs). Next, go to Multiplayer and then click Direct connect.



Enter the IP address and port we have earlier, 192.168.1.47.31790 in this example. If everything is fine, the connection will be established. You can now play on this server with a friend.



Server Configuration When Playing over the Internet with Another Player Using Hamachi



If you are unable to physically join another player on the network due to distances between them, you can create a network over the Internet using Hamachi.



Make two copies of the following steps on both PCs: Create a Hamachi account, then download the program (after clicking the link, the Download button will be in the center).



Install the program and authorize using the created data. Now, go to Hamachi and click on "Create new network". Enter any network name or password. The new network will now appear in the window.



Open TLauncher. Select the version that has the TL icon. Now run the game. Login to your TLauncher.org to play the game. If you choose the version that does not have the TL icon, you won't be able to connect with the server without a Mojang licence.



Go to your current world and click the Pause menu. The chat will display information about the server's successful opening, as well as the port number, 60000 in this example (you will also have another).



Click on "Connect with an existing network" to connect to another PC. Enter the network name or password that you have previously created. If the connection is successful, the Hamachi window will show your friend’s computer.



Next, you will need to open the version with a TL icon on another Windows PC. (Also, the version of your game must be identical on both PCs). Go to Multiplayer, then click Direct connect.



Now, enter the address from Hamachi in the IP field (of the PC, on which the server is opened) + port that we got earlier, 25.60.187.78:60000 in the example. If everything is OK, the connection will be established! You can now play with a friend on the server.



Setting up a Local Minecraft Server with Mods



Once you have configured the server to play on the same WiFi (LAN) network or using Hamachi, you can install mods and play with your friends with them. The instruction is very simple.



Install on all clients exactly the same mods, everything should be identical, also the Forge version itself should be the same, for example, ForgeOptiFine 1.12.2. Remember to include the TL icon in the version!



Now create and connect to the server according to the same instructions above, depending on your network. Now you are ready to play Minecraft mods!



Possible Problems and Solutions



- The server connects to an "Invalid session" or "Check user name" error.



Solution: You must run the version with a TL icon. Otherwise, you will need a game licence. If you run precisely this one, check whether in "Account Management" -> "Use TLauncher skins" checkbox is activated (in the launcher).



- When connecting to the server "Io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectException: Connection time out: no further information" error appears.



Solution: The game cannot find information about such server. This means that the network configuration is incorrect. Try to disable anti-virus and firewall on the host computer or configure it correctly.



- Chunk loading is occurring when you connect to the server. However, the server immediately drops the connection (there is an error).



Solution: The network configuration appears to be correct, but the firewall or antivirus is preventing the connection from working. You can disable them or configure them correctly.
