How To Set Up Voting On Your Minecraft Server

Voting is a fundamental plugin in any growing Minecraft server. These steps will help you set up Votifier and VotingPlugin on your server.

You require two plugins to set up voting:

NuVotifier is used to notify the server of any new votes received from external sites. VotingPlugin, a plugin that allows you to link your players with these sites and reward them for voting. A tutorial on how to manually install the plugins can be found here. To generate the configurations, restart your server after installing the plugins.

Before you proceed with the tutorial please make sure that you have installed the above plugins.

1. First, go to the Open ports tab of your control panel.

2. Choose any port of type CUSTOM. These are ports that the votifier plugin can access to listen for votes from other sites. We chose port 18518 in our case. Copy the port or write it down somewhere, as we will be using it in a few steps. (Note: Open ports may be different for everyone.

3. Now, return to your SMpicnic Control Panel. Once in, select the plugins folder.

4. Navigate to the Votifier folder and click on it. (If the folder is not there, you might need to restart the server to create it. Open config.yml by double clicking on it or selecting the file and choosing Edit on the menu above. It doesn't matter if it seems confusing at first glance, as we'll cover each section in detail.

5. You should change the host setting to host: 127.0.0.1. This ensures Votifier will connect to your server's address. 6. You must change the port: 8192 line to your CUSTOM port you selected in step 2. In this case, we will change port 8192 to our custom port: port 18518. 7. These are the only things we can change. Now, the configuration of your votifier is complete. Click Save to redirect you back to the Votifier folder. Don't leave yet, as we need one more thing. 8. Click on the rsa folder and you will see 2 files, private.key and public.key. Open the public.key.

9. After opening the file, you will see a long string of random words and numbers. Simply copy this line and paste it into a notepad or sticky file.

10. Now restart your server. Once the server is fully up and running, open a new tab to access your server console from the control panel. In another tab, head over to https://mctools.org/votifier-tester. Gaming news Start by filling out the Minecraft Username. The IP address from which you connect to your server. All together it should look something like this:

11. Hit Send test vote and you will be prompted if the vote was successful. You can also go over to your console in the other tab and you should see this message in the image below appear whenever a player successfully votes:

12. You have now successfully installed NuVotifier. As for player rewards, that is where VotingPlugin comes in. You can edit these rewards per site by heading over to File Manager and navigate to plugins folder, and finally the VotingPlugin folder. You can edit VoteSites.yml from this page. 13. You will have to set up each votesite manually by registering your server on sites such as https://www.planetminecraft.com/ or https://minecraft-mp.com/, you can set each reward per site or have the server execute a command on the player when he does vote, an example set up of a site would be as shown below.

The site currently has $1000 to reward the player and a message thanking him for voting for MinecraftServersBiz. Ofcourse you may reward the player with anything you wish as well as run commands for other plugins such as giving the player Vote Keys for crate plugins.

1. Congratulations! Voting is now set up on your server.
