Windows apps shortcuts do not include.exe
Option 1:
Select Start > Settings> Personalization > Start > Enable "Show apps in the Start menu"
Once enabled, your start menu will have an app list on the left side (Picture).
Scroll down to Minecraft Launcher and drag the icon to the desktop.
Option 2:
An alternate method to create a short for new Minecraft Launcher
Press Windows key + R
Enter shell:AppsFolder by typing in
Find the new Minecraft Launcher
Right click and create shortcut
Is it possible to add Minecraft as an un-steam game to your steam library if they don't include the.exe? Trying to make it work with my xbox controller and thats the main method I've seen people suggest but as far as I've been able to tell I need to select the minecraftlauncher.exe to add it to my library and that doesn't seem to exist anymore.

"Don't have permission to open this file" I've tried everything and tried to give permission. Is there a way to bypass it and use a Java edition controller?
This is a wonderful help. However, I am getting the dreaded OpenGL1282 error.
I tried the great advice of several users in this thread, but to no avail. games Steam can't run the new launcher no matter what I do. I may not be an expert, but Java MC doesn't have controller support. We deserve more than a temporary solution.
