Are you planning a long getaway from home? Make sure to pack digital materials in case WiFi goes down
I would like to be able to share a tale which happened to me during a holiday I spent aboard a boat through the Arctic. It sounded incredible, National Geographic trip through the ice and back , with Polar bears as well as other wildlife. There would be all kinds of ice and all over the place was snow. Machines made by humans would have to fight the elements to break through the frigid north. It sounded incredible, like a massive combat against the weather north and pole.

I was advised to carry as much technology as I could in my suitcases. I did bring my laptop, but I also brought the screen of a large size to expand the work space. I was informed that electricity wasn't a problem. I was not aware of what was about to take place. I didn't know that 2 days into the 14-day trip , I'd be without Internet connection, and then disappear off the face of the Earth for the next 10 days. It was quite a shock for me when it occurred. Every trip, however difficult or remote, should be an unexpected disconnect from the technology world but not in the 21st century. y2mate com In addition, I've got unfinished work to handle over the next week however, I haven't prepared myself for the time of downtime.


Today, no one cares if they are forced to be offline. Internet is everywhere. In the event that your home connection has temporary problems, it is possible to locate an area McDonalds and use their complimentary WiFi connection to complete whatever you need. You can even bring laptops and settle in the cafe at Starbucks for the rest of your life or sit down at a table and browse the Internet to the fullest extent you wish. But no cafe or restaurant will help further north, and a few hours from the nearest shack that has electricity generated by the weak generator.. There's no free Internet. There are only two options in these situations either to get a satellite connection or turn off the internet.

I can't afford to purchase the satphone as it's expensive, particularly for Internet. But, I'm planning to create a massive audio and video collection for the upcoming time I venture into the unknown without Internet access. Last time , I had 2 songs that were both mockingly downloaded in the past and all I was able to listen to were three smooth jazz songs and some famous song I didn't know the title. That's it. Four tunes for two weeks of no-thingness. I would have prepared for this if I knew this would happen. I would have stuffed my laptop with TV shows, movies and bunch of music videos as well as audio files loaded with songs and podcasts. My favorite podcasts would be the soundtrack to my daily life. It is easy to download podcasts, then convert them into mp3 and save them to my computer. After that, I can sit in my bedroom and enjoy whatever I like to listen to at home but don't have time for. This would have been my golden hour, or 2 weeks of gold. But it was actually two weeks of looking at the ceiling and running to meet passengers every when a sound is heard in the corridors..

Both metaphorically and literally In both ways, the journey was empty. I've never been so bored. I knew the problem would eventually arise from the thick ice, so the boat was forced to turn around and be pulled back to the shores of civilization. It was not a surprise. But, the hours and hours of downtime could have easily been listening to podcasts, watching videos for DIY home repair, or simply enjoying music. The next time I'll convert YouTube videos into MP4 and mp3 using my laptop. Music can lift spirits, so don't be discouraged. Keep in mind that Netflix and Hulu apps allow you to download movies and shows to your computer to view offline. Also, these can be carried for long journeys across the arctic. You don't want to waste time in boredom. Best of luck!
