Kosher Salt and Its Health Benefits
Kosher salt is Sodium Chlorate obtained from sea salt and refined to remove impurities. As chemically, there is no major difference between chlorates that are classified as NaCl or salts that are all NaCl. As such, kosher salt is basically about twice as effective as regular table salt.

The most commonly used kosher salt in food production is "kosher salt" or " kosher salt" (the term refers to the classification of salts used by the Jewish communities). This is a salt with the minerals and other nutrients that have been purified, but nevertheless retains the "kosher" name. This type of salt can be found in most supermarkets and kosher meat markets. It is also found in most " kosher" foods such as: meats ( kosher, pack, skinless), dairy products, and fish. It is a mainstay in the cooking world and is used to help ensure that the food we eat is safe for consumption. In addition, this salt helps bring out the natural flavor and color in foods and cuts through some of the more subtle flavors associated with certain types of fish, for example.

However, kosher salt does have a strong aftertaste, and so much so that many find it unpleasant after they have tried using kosher salt in their recipes. This is often attributed to an over-saturated fat content in kosher salt - in actuality, the fat actually serves to improve the flavor of the food, not to add any more salt. There is no substitute for the traditional salt shaker; one should always be sure to rinse out the salt container after use. For instance, if you are preparing a recipe that calls for whitefish, use kosher salt to season the fillets before placing them in the pan. They will retain the salty taste for an even longer period of time.

The traditional recipe for Passover Sesame Chicken uses kosher salt, but it is not uncommon to come across pieces of chicken cooked using sea salt or pink sea salt. Pink salt contains large amounts of sodium; however, sea salt has trace minerals which offset the sodium and improve the flavor. As far as flavor is concerned, there really isn't much difference between kosher salt and sea salt. Many people prefer sea salt on top of their chicken because it adds a somewhat salty taste to the meat.

The only exception to the rule of thumb when buying kosher salt would be buying table salt, as opposed to table slabs of regular table salt. When kosher salt has been processed, it becomes very smooth and translucent. Because of this, kosher salt has a distinct advantage over sea salt - it is able to trap more of the minerals in the seawater, enhancing its nutritional value. This makes kosher salt ideal for use in any dish that requires rich flavor, without becoming too saturated in flavor. Sea salt, on the other hand, loses valuable minerals along the way.

There are two different kinds of kosher salt available, which have differing properties when it comes to using them in cooking. The first kind is made up of larger crystal particles, and these large crystal grains are ideal for cooking. Although not as absorbent as table salt, the large crystals provide a good covering for food during cooking, allowing the flavors to meld well with the rest of the ingredients. Unfortunately, because kosher salt cannot absorb very much of the liquid in dishes, it does not have a high absorbing capacity.

Rock salt mines tend to be much lower in minerals than kosher salt mines. Although kosher salt tends to be softer than rock salt, it still has a high absorbing capacity, being able to absorb a significant amount of liquid. Due to this property, kosher salt is particularly recommended for use in soups and stews, where its large surface area can meld well with the liquids in the soup. If you want a more neutral product for cooking, consider using baking salt, which has a similar absorption capacity to kosher salt. For baking, however, rock salt works best as a garnish, rather than as a main ingredient. It is also not recommended as a cooking ingredient, since it can burn your mouth on the hottest of cook outs.

Kosher salt does not need to be bought at the supermarket, since many suppliers now sell online. However, if you would prefer to go to the store and pick your own kosher salt, you should be aware that kosher salt is going to have a higher sodium count than table salt would. This means that if you choose to buy kosher salt, you may need to experiment with the amounts of salt you purchase, to keep your food from becoming too salty. Most people will find that once they've tried kosher salt on their food, they enjoy using it even more!
