Voting is a fundamental plugin in any growing Minecraft server. Follow these steps to install Votifier on your server along with VotingPlugin
You require two plugins to set up voting:
NuVotifier: Notifies the server of new votes from external websites. VotingPlugin allows you to reward your players for voting and link them to these sites. You will need to manually install the plugins. A tutorial can be found below. To generate the configs, restart your server once you have installed the plugins.
Before you continue with the tutorial, please install the plugins.
1. First head over to the Open ports tab on your control panel.
2. Select any port of the type CUSTOM. These are open ports in your server which the votifier plugin can use to listen for votes from external sites. In our case, we used port 18518. Copy it or write it down somewhere. We will use it in quite a few ways. (Note - Open ports are different for everyone.
3. Now return to your SMpicnic Control Panel and enter your File Manager. Once in, select the plugins folder.
4. Navigate to the Votifier folder and click on it. (If the folder is not there, you might need to restart the server to create it. Double-click on config.yml or select the file and choose Edit from the menu above. Don't worry if it seems confusing upon first sight as we'll go through each section in detail.
5. You should change the host setting to host: 127.0.0.1. This ensures Votifier will connect to your server's address. 6. You must change the port: 8192 line to your CUSTOM port you selected in step 2. In this case, we will change port 8192 to our custom port: port 18518. 7. These are the only things we can change. The configuration of the votifier has been completed. Click Save, this should redirect you to the Votifier folder. Don't quit yet, we need to save one more thing. 8. Click on the rsa folder and you will see 2 files, private.key and public.key. Open the public.key file.
9. After opening the file, you will see a long string of random words and numbers. Simply copy this line and paste it into a notepad or sticky file.
10. Start the server. Once the server has been fully started up, open a new tab. In another tab, head over to https://mctools.org/votifier-tester. Start by filling in the Minecraft Username with anything to test, I'm going with "TestPlayer". The IP address from which you connect to your server. It should look like this:
11. Hit Send test vote and you will be prompted if the vote was successful. You can also log in to the console from the other tab. The message below will appear when a player votes successfully.
12. Now you have successfully set up NuVotifier. VotingPlugin is where you can edit player rewards. These rewards can be edited per website by going to File Manager. Navigate to plugins folder and then the VotingPlugin Folder. We can now edit VoteSites.yml. 13. You will have to set up each votesite manually by registering your server on sites such as https://www.planetminecraft.com/ or https://minecraft-mp.com/, you can set each reward per site or have the server execute a command on the player when he does vote, an example set up of a site would be as shown below.
The site currently has $1000 to reward the player and a message thanking him for voting for MinecraftServersBiz. You may also reward the player with other plugins, such as Vote Keys that allow you to give the player crate plugins.
