How To Make A Minecraft Bedrock Server

To run a Minecraft server, you need to download its zip file from Minecraft's official website. It provides you with server files for both Windows and Ubuntu. It can be unzipped with your default file browser or using software like WinZip, WinRar, or both.

Note: The Alpha stage for Bedrock's server software is still in place as of March 2022. There might be some bugs that need to get fixed before the final release. Run the Minecraft Bedrock server

The Minecraft server doesn't need to be installed before hosting it. This is unlike a Java Server. So now let's get started. On Ubuntu

Each Linux OS has its own terminal app that can run custom commands. Make sure your system runs at least Ubuntu 18 or an equivalent. Next, use the following command for server launch. LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./bedrock_server. Once you have successfully run the command, you are able to jump onto the server and play.

On Windows

These steps will help you create a Minecraft Bedrock server for Windows: 1. First, we need Minecraft to be exempted from UWP loopback limitations. It prevents UWP apps (like Minecraft Bedrock), from connecting to the local servers. To do this, you can open the command prompt and become an administrator by right-clicking the icon in the start menu or selecting the option from the sub-menu.

2. Then, enter the following command within the command prompt. CheckNetIsolation.exe LoopbackExempt -a -p=S-1-15-2-1958404141-86561845-1752920682-3514627264-368642714-62675701-733520436 You can close the command prompt after executing the command.

3. Next, double-click or right-click the server folder to open the "bedrock_server.exe".

4. Windows will start its firewall as soon as you open the file. Make sure you select both the "private", and "public" network options. Next, click the "allow access" button.

5. Once the Firewall accepts an exception, the server starts running in the command line prompt.

Open System Port

Now that you have both your OS (and firewall) ready to invite other Minecraft players, it is time for the router to be installed. Yes, we will get into technical stuff a bit more than in the previous section. Our easy-to follow steps will get your Minecraft Bedrock Server up and running. Find Server IP Address & IPv6 Addresses

Before anything else, we need to figure out the details about the platform that is hosting the Minecraft Bedrock server. To do this, go to Command Prompt again. Enter the following command.

ipconfig /all

It will display your IPv4 and IPv6 addresses within the prompt. You can either leave it open or copy both to save for later. Some routers require IPv6 instead of default gateway addresses so make sure you note it down. System Port Settings

A system port is the entry point through which players on other networks can communicate with and join your online server. We need to change your router's system port settings to open it for other players.

Each router manufacturer has its own UI and settings dashboard. Since we can't cover them all, you have to head to SetupRouter.com and find the way to open your Port Forwarding settings. Enter Server Details

Once you have reached the router's system port settings, you will need to search for and click on "add services" or "create a new" or another similar-named button. Next, enter these details into your router.

- Server/Service/Port name: Minecraft Server. Start Port:19132 - End Port :19132

- Service Type: TCP/UDP

Minecraft Bedrock's default portID is "19132". If there are columns that have "port" in their names, you can enter the same ID. Moreover, the router might also require you to enter an IP Address, IPv6 Address, or default gateway address. Your IP address is identical to the IPv4 Address you entered earlier via the command prompt. Invite Friends: Find Your Public IP Address

To join any dedicated Minecraft Bedrock server, you only need the host's public IP address. Port forwarding means that your public IP address won’t reveal any private information. The same information can be found by opening Google and searching "what is my IP"

Your public IP address will appear in search results. Copy the address and share it among your friends who are interested in joining the server. As you'll see, you need the same for your Minecraft Bedrock server. How to Join the Minecraft Bedrock Server

With your server up and running, it's time to test it. These steps will work for you and any friends that wish to join your server. Let's get started! 1. Click on "Play" from the homepage.

2. Next, click on Servers in the top column to load all active server.

3. Scroll down to find the servers section and click on "Add server" at the bottom.

4. Finally, you need to enter the details of your server to join it. You can name the server anything you like. It is 19132, unless you have changed it in server property. Lastly, the server address is the same as your public IP address.

Modify Your Minecraft Bedrock Server

Once your server is up and running it's time for customization. By default, a server loads a basic Vanilla survival world which is great to enjoy some of the best Minecraft seeds. However, this is not enough to make your server a hit. Let's take a look at our customization options. Server Properties

Modifying the world properties is the easiest way to customize a server. You can open the "server.properties" file in notepad to do so. It is located within the unzipped folder, from which you run the world.

You can edit the following settings within properties: Game mode (Survival or Creative), Adventure & related settings

Difficulty and Cheating

Maximum number of participants and conditions of joining

Server settings

World properties

Abilities of players

Resource Packs and Worlds

Change the appearance of a server is one way to make it stand out. To do this, download and install one of our best texture or resource pack by placing it into the "resource package" folder.

You can also use custom Minecraft map by placing them into the "worlds” folder. This will give you pre-built worlds you can share with your friends. Server Commands

Commands work in Minecraft like cheats in other games. They basically give you almost developer-like power to change everything about your world without leaving the game. You can even edit server properties using these commands. We have a dedicated guide for Minecraft Bedrock commands that you can refer to for making the most out of this feature. Close Your Minecraft Bedrock Service

Once your friends are done playing, you can simply close the game and exit the server. But that's doesn't automatically save the progress. Instead, you need to open the command prompt in which your server runs. MINECRAFT Then, open the command prompt window and type "stop". Hit enter.

The server will close immediately and save all your progress and changes to its world. This is the only way to close your server and save progress. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).

Q. Q. Is a dedicated Minecraft server free? Unless you are using premium Minecraft hosting services, a dedicated Minecraft Bedrock server is completely free. Q. Q. Does Minecraft Bedrock Support Cross-Play As long as they are on the same game version, any of your friends can join your Minecraft server from any platform that runs Bedrock. Java players are not allowed to join the Bedrock Servers.

Q. Can I Run a Server with Xbox Game Pass? A dedicated version works with Xbox Game Pass just like regular Minecraft. It also works on Minecraft Betas or Minecraft Preview, provided that the players are using the same version. Q. Q. Is there a simpler way to make Minecraft Bedrock Servers? Dedicated servers are usually the most reliable way to run Minecraft servers for free. But you can check our guide to make free online Minecraft servers for an even easier server method than dedicated servers. Host a Minecraft Server on Bedrock for Free

Now you have the ability to jump into the ever-growing Minecraft world with a Bedrock Server that's uniquely yours. In a dedicated server, whether you want to explore ancient cities or just hang out with your friends is totally up to you. One of the most popular ways my friends use such servers is to build Minecraft houses. Such a thought-stimulating time is even better than bonding over the best co-op games. Be sure to dress up for the role. A server with too many default protagonists is not fun. Try some of the best Minecraft skins, and share them with your friends.
