How to keep current with music from your own country, even if it's 10 years since you last left.

What are you doing? I am an 18-year-old Russki man who came to America to seek a better life. In Russia I didn't have a lot of money nor was I in the middle class. It's not me, per-say. However, my family. As an early adult in Russia the money wasn't an option. We had to come up with ways to earn money. Many schemes exist, most of which are similar to alcohol addicts who ask for money from their friends to purchase their vodka bottles for the community. It was pretty similar. We looked for quick ways to make some cash so we could purchase bread. We always had food cravings.

So, I landed in America. There's nothing like New York, Brooklyn or Brighton Beach. The city is quite similar to my home. It's noisy, it's filthy, there's a lot of Russian spoken everywhere, the people are rude - it's regular Russian city life. There is a lot to do, including visiting Russian music venues and bookshops.

I am a huge fan of music and books. It was discovered recently you can read Russian literature on Kindle. I have stopped buying hard-copy books. In addition, I don't have much room in our house and my wife is almost an escapist, so I try my best to avoid contributing to her hoarding. I also stay away from buying new stuff lying in my home that I don't really need because I don't have a space to store them. After searching for the first few months , my stacks of books turned into a sad sight, and I moved them into my garage, where there is still space to store my things.


Music, however, is different. I love music because my work requires me to travel long distances so I listen to a lot. As a Russian immigrant, it's hard for me to like the music that I listen to in America. I'm not a fan of hip hop and rap. The latest songs that children love to dance to. I really love the old Russian music, also the songs from jail that are especially suited to Russian music industry. They're still extremely popular , even though I've been gone for twenty years. Youtube is a must these days. When I get home from working, I can spend hours listening to Youtube music.

After a while, I've created a nice long playlist with over 300 songs that I really am in love with. Having this treasure on repeat throughout the day and night I'm having no trouble in getting used to music because there's over 300 songs, that's a lot. However, when I want the songs to be played in my car, I don't always have internet access. I'm required to have it in order to drive, for navigation. I prepare all the necessary preparations at home. I'm currently in the middle. I make a few tracks on Youtube, then I convert those mp3s to MP3 files on my laptop. https://y2mate.pro/ Finally, I take the CD with me to my car and listen. This site I discovered allows me to download the Youtube playlist and print the entire playlist. Each song can be converted into mp3 and stored on my computer. Then, you can easily transfer the music to an audio-CD. Sometimes I'm prone to making a mistake and create a data CD. This will not work with my car stereo. But it is possible to record audio. It's amazing to see how technology is working. I don’t need to log on to the internet or use any other gadgets to play MP3. Just insert the CD into the car stereo slot, and I can hear Russian music blasting in Manhattan.

It is easy and inexpensive to download videos from Youtube and convert them to MP3 format so that you can save them to your phone. I was watching my friend connect his phone to his car stereo and it was playing high-quality sound within a matter of seconds. The phone also streamed Spotify and Pandora radio. It doesn't even require the most internet connection. This is something I would consider trying. Of course, I'll take care not to connect to any wifi that is free.
