Windows apps shortcuts do not include.exe
Option 1:
Select Start > Settings > Personalization > start > enable "Show App List in Start Menu"
Once enabled, your menu will include an app list to the left side of your start menu (Picture).
Scroll down to Minecraft Launcher and drag the icon to the desktop.
Option 2:
An alternate method to create a short for new Minecraft Launcher
Use the Windows key + to change the language.
Enter shell:AppsFolder
Find the new Minecraft Launcher
Right click and create a shortcut
If they don't involve the .exe does that mean its no longer possible to add Minecraft as a non-steam game to my steam library? Trying to make it work with my xbox controller and thats the main method I've seen people suggest but as far as I've been able to tell I need to select the minecraftlauncher.exe to add it to my library and that doesn't seem to exist anymore.
This was a lot simpler than I had expected. Thanks
Thank you, that first one worked great. I could never figure it out for my forza either
It's a great idea!

"Don't have permission" I tried everything. Is there a way to bypass it and use a Java edition controller?
This is a wonderful help. However, I am getting the dreaded OpenGL1282 error.
I tried all the wonderful advice that was offered by users in this thread, but it didn't work. No matter what I do, Steam won't run the new launcher. How to crossplay minecraft Although I may be a novice, the problem for many people reading this thread is that Java MC does not support controller support. We deserve better than a work-around.
