This is a tale of my last trip to the Arctic on a boat. It sounded fantastic, National Geographic trip through the ice and back , with Polar bears and other wildlife. There would be ice wherever eyes could see , and snow everywhere. Man-made machinery was designed to combat the elements, and navigate through the frozen wilderness of northern Norway. It was awe-inspiring, an epic fight against the weather north and pole.

I was told to take along all the tech I could fit in my luggage. I did carry my laptop and also put in a larger display to increase the workspace. They assured me that electricity wasn't a problem. I wasn't quite aware of the things that were about to happen. I didn't realize that I would be disconnected from my internet just two days into my 14 day journey and disappear from the Earth for the next ten days. When it did happen, I was simply stunned. Every trip should not, however difficult or remote, cause me to be disconnected from the world of technology. Not only have I got an unfinished project to tackle in the coming week, but I also didn't prepare myself for the time off.

Today, no one cares if they have to be offline. Internet is accessible everywhere. If your internet connection fails it is possible to visit a McDonald's nearby to get the no-cost WiFi connection you require. Bring your laptop and sit down in the cafe at Starbucks for the duration of time, occupy a table there and just surf the Internet to your heart's desire. However, no café, restaurant or cafe can help you out up north. They are hours away from the closest shack, with electricity generated by the weak generator. There's not a free Internet. There are two optionsto choose from: choose to go offline, or opt for satellite access.

A sat-phone is expensive and I'm unable to afford it. I'll prepare a video and audio library for my next adventure without Internet. Last time I had two songs. But, they were both accidentally downloaded way back when, so I was restricted in my music choices to three songs from jazz and one track that I didn't recognize. It's that simple. Four tunes for two weeks of nothingness. If I had known this was likely to be the case, I would have prepared. I would have loaded my laptop up with TV shows, movies, music videos, and audio files that contained songs and podcasts. I could have spent hours listening to my favorite podcasts. It's simple to download them, then convert into MP3 and save to my computer. I can then lie in my bedroom listening to the podcasts I love, but seldom find the time to sit down and listen. This would be my gold hour which is about two weeks' worth of gold. But, it ended up being two weeks of looking at a ceiling , and then sprinting to catch passengers when there was a sound coming from the corridors.


The trip was devoid both literally and metaphorically. https://4kdownload.cc I've never been this bored. The ice was too thick. I was aware that this could eventually cause the issue. The boat was forced to be turned around and return towards civilization. It was not surprising, but it meant that endless hours of idle time could be used for listening to podcasts or watch videos for DIY home repair, as well as simply listening to music. Next time, I'll convert YouTube videos from mp4 to MP3 format on my laptop. Bring them along and you can listen to your most loved songs from your laptop. No need to be down music is always uplifting your spirits. Remember that Hulu and Netflix apps are able to download movies and shows for you to watch offline, those can also be viewed on the long journey across the arctic. Be sure to not be bored.
