Unless you decide to, there won't any charges.
Next, we will create a virtual Machine to run the Server
Fill in the required fields.
Scroll down to section 'Image & shape'. Make sure that "Canonical Ubuntu 20.04" is selected, then check that the shape is set to AMD VM.Standard.E2.1.Micro
Note: The pre-set shape may not work with Ubuntu. To change the Image, simply switch the shape to one that does.
Next, we will need to select a virtual clouds network (VCN). If you already have a VCN with a public network, choose it. If not, choose Create a virtual cloud network'. Next, choose Create A Public Subnet' and accept default names. Finally, make sure that 'Assign a public IPv4 address' is selected (otherwise you couldn't connect to this server from the internet! ).
Now we need to associate an "SSH" key pair with this VM. MINECRAFT SERVER If you are familiar with the concept and have a public keys that you wish to use, click 'Upload public keys files' and upload your publickey. If this is your first time using SSH keys, these keys will allow you securely log in to the server. Click on 'Generate SSH Key Pair' to save your private keys and public keys to your local computer. These keys will allow you to log into the VM in a few seconds.
You will need your Private Key to log in later so don’t lose it.
Leave boot volume defaults and click 'Create'.
After clicking 'Create", you'll be redirected back to the VM details webpage. Your VM instance, once created, will be in a PROVISIONING mode.
After 30-60 seconds, the state switches to RUNNING. Find your public IP Address and copy it.
Next, we must open ports for players to connect to the server.
Click on Add Ingress Rules
To install Minecraft software on a VM, we need a remote connection. I recommend you to learn about SSH if you don't know what it is.
Powershell can be used as your connecting program if you are on Windows (most likely). Open Powershell, and type this: ssh-i (file path for your private key) ubuntu@VM ip address
BEFORE: This is where you should research how to secure your private key file.
This is what it looks like when you succeed in logging into your vm
Next you'll want to install multiple programs to start.
Run these commands:
sudo apt-get install firewalld
These commands will install firewall access and screen to keep your server afloat after you restart it.
Next, start in powershell during your ssh sessions:
sudo firewall cmd --permanent
sudo firewall cmd --permanent -zone=public --addport=19132/udp
sudo firewall-cmd --reload
Then:
sudo su - Minecraft
mkdir Bedrock
wget https://minecraft.azureedge.net/bin-linux/bedrock-server-1.17.2.01.zip -O server.zip
unzip server.zip
rmserver.zip
If necessary visit https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download/server/bedrock and check the latest download link and substitute it.
Then, execute these commands:
chmod +x./bedrock_server
This is the last command that will start your server.
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./bedrock_server
You can connect to your server now using the VM's IP and the standard Port, the name is irrelevant.
However when you close the terminal your server will stop too, so you'll need to stop your server by typing "stop' or closing the window, and relogging in (note you'll need to run these commands again sudo su - Minecraft
cd Bedrock
Enter.
Then, run the following command: LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./bedrock_server
You should now have a functioning bedrock server, with 1 gb ram, and 1 xenon core, good for atleast 20 players. If you would like to do this for a java server use this link.
