How To Download And Install Minecraft Maps

Playing Minecraft is a fantastic way to explore your creativity. The game can become a bit repetitive after a while.

Installing new Minecraft map can help players solve this issue. These maps are easy and make Minecraft feel fresh again.

This guide will show you the best places to download Minecraft maps and how to install them.

What are Minecraft Maps and How Do They Work?

Minecraft maps are basically the exact same as Minecraft worlds. They are custom virtual environments created by in-game users. These maps can include anything from a pixel-art monument to a parkour challenge. They can even take the form of an entire city.

Once players have created a new Minecraft map they can share it with the community. Users can also import these maps to explore the designs created by other members of our community.

How to Download Minecraft Maps

First, you need to identify which Minecraft version you have. Java maps won't work on Bedrock versions, and vice versa. Once you have verified your version you can download maps from these websites. Maps can also be downloaded in.zip or as.mcworld files.

- .zip file: .zip files are used to share maps created in the Java edition of Minecraft. The .zip file contains the assets related to loading the map in-game. The.zip files were also used in the past by Bedrock editions, Windows 10, iOS, Android. Paxton's blog Minecraft Maps is a great place to find these maps. - .mcworld file: The .mcworld extension stores all map-related assets in a single file. To install a .mcworld map, double-click it. You can find.mcworld map files on the MCPEDL fan website, as well as skins, textures, and mods for Minecraft.

Now that you've downloaded your new maps, it's time to install them.

How to Install Minecraft Maps on Windows. Java

To use your map file, you will need to place it into the correct directory. The location of your Minecraft version will affect the location. For Windows Java version:

1. Extract the.zip file. 2. You can copy the map folder by clicking on it and then pressing Ctrl+ C on your keyboard. 3. To open Windows Run, press Win + R on your keyboard. 4. Type %appdata% into the textbox. Then, press Enter to open the C:UsersyourusernameAppDataRoaming directory. 5. Find the folder labelled.minecraft in the Roaming directory. There will be a folder called "saves" within. This is where Minecraft stores its maps. 6. Copy the map folder into your saves folder. That's it!

Alternate Method

If you want to avoid using the Run app, you can also access the Minecraft saves folder through the Minecraft Launcher. Here's how: First, copy the map folder as before.

1. Open Minecraft Launcher. 2. Click the Installations tab for Minecraft: Java Edition. 3. Hover over Latest Release and click the folder icon to open the Minecraft installation directory. 4. Navigate to the Saves folder. 5. Paste the map folder.

Launch Minecraft single-player mode to explore your downloaded world. You should now see your map. Click the map to load it. Once everything loads, start exploring!

How to Install Minecraft Maps On Windows 10 (Bedrock).

By using.mcworld archives you can easily install custom maps to all Bedrock editions. Double-click the.mcworld folder to open Minecraft and load the new map.

You will need to extract older files using the.zip extension and then manually move them to the minecraftWorlds directory.

1. Extract the zip file. 2. Copy the folder that you just unpacked. 3. Open File Explorer. 4. Copy the address below, and paste it into your Quick access bar. Press Enter.%localappdata%PackagesMicrosoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbweLocalStategamescom.mojang

5. This command opens the Minecraft installation directory. 6. Open the minecraftWorlds directory. 7. Paste your map folder, and you should be all set!

How to Install Minecraft Maps On Mac

With the new.mcworld extension, you can also install Minecraft maps to Android. All you need to do is open the map file, and it should automatically launch in Minecraft. Older Minecraft maps may use the.zip format. To install these, you'll have to unpack them and paste them into the minecraftWorlds folder. Here's how:

1. Open the Files by Google app on your Android device. 2. Navigate to your Minecraft map.zip file. 3. Click on the .zip file and select Extract. Now, you will see a folder containing Minecraft's map. 4. Copy the Minecraft folder. 5. Navigate to the root directory and then to games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds. 6. Paste the map folder, and you're done!

Alternativly, you can also connect your Android phone via USB to move the map files to the minecraftWorlds directory.

How to Install Minecraft Maps in iOS (Bedrock).

Just like other Bedrock editions if your map has the.mcworld extension, you can run it to load the new map. If you have an older map that is in a zip format, you will need to convert it into a.mcworld format. Here's how:

1. First, download Documents by Readdle. Once installed, open the Files app and tap your downloaded .zip file. 2. Documents should prompt to unzip location. Choose any location you like. 3. Once unzipped open the extracted map folder and select any folders there using the checkmark in upper left corner. This process will not work if you don't select all of them. 4. Next, tap More on the lower right. 5. Tap Compress and compress these files into an Archive. Once the archive has finished, deselect everything. Tap the checkbox next the Archive file, and then tap Rename at lower screen. 6. Rename the file using.mcworld instead of.zip (Archive.mcworld). Documents will ask for confirmation. Do this. When you are done, tap Done. 7. Next, tap the .mcworld file you just created. Next, tap Open in another application and choose Minecraft. Next, tap Open in another app and select Minecraft. 8. Under the Worlds heading, you should see your new map! Tap it and you're done!
