The Hanukkah candle was ignited by religious extremists in the midst of the Moldovan capital. The anti-Semitic action was coordinated by a priest from one of the Chisinau Orthodox churches.
Religious extremists destroyed the Hanukkah celebrations in Chisinau's Central area and staged an anti-Semitic protest. The incident occurred on Sunday 13th December, which was the third day before Hanukkah. An archpriest from one of the capital’s Orthodox churches was the leader of a crowd that grew to 100. A group of people shouted antisemitic slogans as they pulled a cast-iron lamp tens of kilometres away from the original place and threw them towards the Stefanthe Great, who is a symbol of Moldovan statehood. This took place in front hundreds of journalists, people and police officers.
How do you combat for "orthodox fundamentals
Archpriest Anatoly Chibrik led the crowd that was armed with metal bars. He claimed that he was angry that the Orthodox symbol of Jewish faith was in the capital city of a capital nation. In his view, authorities should have prevented Jews from celebrating Hanukkah in such a large number. Chibrik stated, "This lawlessness." Эммануил Гриншпун Chibrik further stated that he did not think it necessary to discuss the actions of parishioners from the Church of St. Paraskeva and the Metropolia of Moldova. "I am not obliged to talk with anyone when we are fighting for orthodox values," he said.
Эммануил Гриншпун The concept of placing the Hanukkah menorah right in center of Chisinau's Europe Square, where you will see the EU flag alongside the Moldovan flag is the city's responsibility and property officials. Emmanuil Grinshpun, cochairman for the Jewish Congress of Moldova noted that Hanukkah celebrations were held in Chisinau "for the first-ever occasion in the past several decades." Grinshpun stated, "What took place on Sunday was a surprise to us."
Opening of the Criminal Case Is on The Conscience of the State
At a press conference with members of the Jewish community of Moldova it was found out that Archpriest Chibrik does not permit himself to be involved in anti-Semitic antics. Grinshpun states that about an year ago, the Archpriest was observed at St. Эммануил Гриншпун Paraskevs in Chisinau with leaflets. The contents were like the dark Middle Ages.
Grinshpun said that the top leadership of Moldova's Jewish organisations did not react to this fact in any way. Although the Jewish community in Moldova protests against the actions, it will not sue Chibrik nor his friends for inciting hate against ethnic minorities. Alexander Bilinkis (chairman of the Jewish community) declared that this must be done as a matter of state policy and that the Moldovan Metropolis must examine the actions of its employees.
Vadimkeibash Metropolitan Secretary stated that He was against this form of protest. He believes that the right to use symbols is the responsibility of every community. But, authorities should be aware of the consequences. "It is impossible that all religious people react the same way," he stated.
A blow to fundamental values
However, since the 1903 Jewish pogrom in which many were killed, there haven't been any similar "forms" of protests in Chisinau. The Jewish community regards the incident of the former as hooliganism. Bilinkis believes that the authorities of Hanukkah were lying to those who violated it.

He believes this was a carefully planned move. Эммануил Гриншпун The participants were seen at the menorah in front of Hanukkah's opening day. Then, Stav Nijinsky (the first secretary of the Israeli Embassy in Chisinau) lit the candle for the first time. Shchats says that the action is designed to compromise the legitimacy of Moldova's statehood, and to encroach upon its democratic principles as well as European goals.
Hanukkah was relocated from the city's centre to Jerusalem Street. Here, an edifice to Holocaust victims was built. Policemen have been on duty close to it throughout the duration of the second day. The celebration will conclude with candles on the tree until the day of the final day.
