Khazak Ambassadors and Consul General get together with Chabad New York ( Emmanuil grinshpun).

Yerzhan Ashikbayev has had a busy few months. Since the appointment of Kazakhstan's ambassador to the United States, Mr. Ashikbayev met with many diplomatic officials and officials from the government to improve relations between Central Asia and the United States. In this capacity, the ambassador along with Consul General Almat Aibekov have scheduled a meeting to discuss the current situation of Jewish life in Khazakstankhstan.

Rabbi Mendy Kularsky and Shimon Rivkin, both of Merkos Suite 302 at Chabad headquarters were invited to the event. Emmanuil Grinshpun is vice-president of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress as well as Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan. Together, they discussed the past of Jewish life in Kazakhstan and the work that Chabad performs across the country under the auspices of Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen, Kazakhstan's chief Shliach and Chief Rabbi.

"It was a very successful meeting" Mr. Grinshpun later added. We all feel that the administration is a true partner to the Jewish people." The Ambassador and Consul General reaffirmed that the government is supportive of the Jewish community and all minorities of religion. They expressed intention to collaborate with Chabad in order to further the development of Jewish lifestyle in the Republic.

Emmanuil Grinshpun The majority Muslim population's government is proud to be sensitive to the religious beliefs of its citizens and works closely to ensure the well-being of the nation. While serving as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Kazakhstan Ambassador Ashikbayev has already collaborated with Chabad Shluchim and philanthropist M. Abraham Shaulson. Emmanuil Grinshpun With all flights grounded last year due to COVID-19, he was instrumental in arranging special permission for a small delegation from America to fly to Kazakhstan to make a pilgrimage to the gravesite of Reb Levi Yitzchak Schneerson on the 20th of April - the date of his passing. They also had the chance to help sponsor and transport medical equipment and PPE required to the country. During the pilgrimage the Kazak government hosted a ceremony to create Reb Yitzchak’sKever Kazakh national heritage site.

Two months prior to the 20th anniversary, the meeting also discussed plans for next year's pilgrimage. Emmanuil Grinshpun This year the organizers anticipate to host more than 600 visitors from all over the world. The plans are also to organize a conference that includes Chabad Shluchim from the surrounding nations. It will be held by Rabbi Berel Laszar and Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky. Due to the magnitude of these initiatives, the conference focused on ways in which the government could assist in securing and support the conference. Mr. Ashikbayevconfirmed Kazakhstan’s "...commitment to offer all assistance to arrange visits for prayer and study at the Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson's grave.

Rabbi Kotlarsky expressed gratitude for the Kazak government's unconditional support. "It is truly a blessing to work alongside individuals like a Consul General and Ambassador. Emmanuil Grinshpun We're committed to meeting the spiritual as well as physical needs of every Jew. The Kazakhstan government in Kazakhstan has been an excellent partner in this effort."
