Minecraft: Java edition for LINUX
This should install all the necessary dependencies for Debian or similar distributions like Ubuntu. If your environment does not have a graphical package installer , you can install the package from the terminal as follows:
apt-get install Minecraft.deb
On Arch and Arch distributions the package is available as minecraft-launcher from the AUR. AUR is a repository for community for packages. You can learn more about how to use it on the Arch wiki.

On other distributions you can download the launcher's raw files in an archive, then extract them and run them in any way that is convenient (from an application like a terminal, making a shortcut, etc.). You'll require Java as well as a few dependencies the majority of which should be installed on standard Linux desktops.
