Growing Plants In Minecraft

Growing Plants in Minecraft

Farmland

Many kinds of plants require Farmland to develop on. Farmland is created by removing grass or dirt blocks with a hoe. Farmland is like dirt, however the blocks aren't as tall.

Farmland that is left unplanted for too long, or that is jumped on (by mobs or players) will revert to dirt.

Irrigation

Farmland within 4 blocks will be irrigationally or "hydrated" if it has water. The majority of crops do better on farmland that is irrigated than dry.

Lighting

The majority of crops require light to develop. If you plant them outdoors, they will grow during the day, but if you add more light they will grow in the evening too.

In the underground or indoors, crops will only grow provided you have artificial light for them.

Bone Meal

Many crops can be fertilised using Bone Meal to help them grow faster. Bone Meal is composed of bones of skeleton and can be applied to your crop by clicking.

Wheat

The most commonly grown crop that you will grow.

Seeds

The first thing you'll need is

Seeds

These can be obtained by breaking down long grass blocks. You can also acquire more seeds when you harvest your wheat. Therefore, you only require a few seeds to begin.

The first time you plant your crop

First make a hoe:

...and make sure to include water. Plant your seeds and then wait for them to develop. To ensure that your crops will grow at night, keep a torch near them so they are ready to harvest sooner.

This is how your first wheat farm will look.

Make Bone Meal if you have bones and fertilize your crops. Two applications is usually enough to fully ripen your wheat. If not, you'll have to wait.

It is ready when it is gold:

When you harvest your wheat, you'll receive the wheat item (for cooking or feeding to sheep and cows) and more seeds than the ones you started with. You will be able to plant a larger farm the next time!

Larger fields

One block of water could irrigate 80 blocks farmland.

TIP:place a lily pad on the water so that you aren't swept away when harvesting and replanting your wheat.

TIP: You can harvest wheat quicker by pouring water onto your field. Replanting, however, must be done block-by-block.

Melons and pumpkins

Melons are an excellent food source, and are utilized in the preparation of potions. They are not edible, but can be used as a helmet for protection against Endermen. You can also make Jack-o'-Lanterns using pumpkins. This light fixture with a decorative design can be used to make snow golems.

Seeds

Melon and pumpkin seeds are both found in chests of mine shafts, dungeons, and abandoned mines. MINECRAFT CRAFTING Pumpkins are also often found growing wild and melon seeds may be available from NPC villager.

Pumpkin seeds and melon seeds can be made using melon slices and pumpkins.

Planting

It is important to plant seeds

Farmland

You must water them frequently. The plants will then turn into a pumpkin or melons plant in between 10 to 30 minutes. When the plant is mature the pumpkin or melon will appear on the dirt, farmland or grass block next to the plant.

- speed up the growth of plants by applying bonemeal. While the seed needs to be planted on farmland, the fruits will be seen on farmland, dirt, or grass. - after harvesting, the plant will produce another fruit, every 1-30 minutes. The plant can only produce one fruit at any time. An axe is the best tool for harvesting pumpkins, but anything is acceptable for melons.

Farm Layouts

There are lots of ways to design your farms; here are two suggestions:

Lily Pads

To stop melon slices from falling into the farm's water put lily pads over the top.

Carrots and Potatoes

Carrots and potatoes are sometimes dropped by zombies. They are also found in NPC villages.

Growing them is like growing wheat, except there aren't seeds. Place potatoes and carrots in the fields. If possible, keep them hydrated. It is best to wait. Bonemeal can help speed up the process. When you harvest your crops, you will be able to reap more than you originally planned to plant.

Both carrots and potatoes can be eaten raw. However, it is better to cook the potatoes first.

Beetroot

Another crop that can be found in the villages is beetroot. When you harvest beetroot you will be able to harvest Beetroot and Beetroot Seeds, which can be replanted.

Beetroot can be eaten raw, or used to make Beetroot Soup. You can also make Rose Red dye from it.

Cocoa Beans

Cocoa beans can also be found in dungeon boxes or on trees in the jungle. They can be grown by placing them on the side of a Jungle Wood log. They will develop through a variety of stages and are harvested when they are ready.

Nether Wart

Nether Wart is only available only in Nether Fortresses. However, once you have some Nether Wart, you can plant it anywhere. Plant it in Soul Sand and allow it to grow, and harvest it once it has grown to a full size.

It doesn't require light however, it cannot be stimulated by bone meal. You can only grow it in soulsand, not in regular dirt.
