Abstract Hip Hop Review
When it comes to SM153 and abstract hip hop, this is the one record you should be investing in. From Moor Mother to Billy Woods, Abstract Hip Hop is an excellent collection of songs from underground hip hop artists. But it's far from perfect. This review will give you a brief rundown of each track and a few pointers on which artists to listen to. You should also know how to spot good releases in this genre.

SM153 Abstract Hip-Hop

This sample library contains 1.3GB of original hip-hop beats. The eclectic beats feature monolithic synth stabs, jazz funk bass lines, R&B-influenced melodies, dusty drums and left-field electronica grooves. You'll find a range of different styles and tempos, as well as beats and rhythms that never get tired. The collection also includes vocal cuts and a breakdown section.

Billy Woods

The latest album from Brooklyn's Billy Woods is a soaring collection of songs with fantastic production and features. This album embodies Woods' characteristic left-field style, while retaining the darker aesthetic of his earlier work. Though the production is less agreeable than Haram, this album has a tribal energy that is reminiscent of older days. Aethiopes is well worth the listen, especially if you enjoy a darker sounding hip hop record.

The evocative music of this album is a mix of genres and sounds that are not commonly associated with hip hop. The album includes field recordings, tribal drums, bursts of saxophone solos, and manic verses. Woods' influences are varied and his music reflects this. Although the album has many unique elements, the overall cohesiveness of his songs is the most impressive.

Moor Mother

For those seeking a more experimental approach to hip hop, Moor Mother has crafted an album of epic proportions. Although Learn More has always been more than just hip hop, she's taken her experimental sound to new heights with Black Encyclopedia of the Air. This album makes waves in a way that is completely unique and exciting. Here's a closer look at her latest album. Let's start with the title track, "UMZANI." It's a mesmerizing track, and you'll find yourself rapping along with her in no time.

Her lyrics are dark and apocalyptic, and her style of music combines hip-hop, jazz, electronic music, and spoken word. She is an accomplished musician, composer, arranger, and poet. The title track from her recent album, 2021, channeled a dark energy and felt incredibly raw. Her poetry is also deep and lyrical, and she champions an attitude of a self-reliant, unapologetic self-expression.

Kendrick Lamar

In his latest album, Kendrick Lamar confronts the hypocrisy of the government and calls for change. In his lyrics, he compares gangs to the diplomatic parties of red and blue states and makes a case for equality. This is all part of Lamar's abstract hip hop, but it also has a political purpose. The lyrics are a statement about the oppression of African Americans, and they will inevitably touch the hearts and minds of the listener.

While most of the lyrics are geared towards an emotional and spiritual experience, the rapper's music is based on a broader social critique of the oppressive materialistic society we live in. Kendrick Lamar uses abstract themes to express his disapproval of this ultra-transparent society. His music is so dense and abstract that there are some blanks in the lyrics, and he leaves it up to the listener to fill in the gaps.

Q-Tip

Abstract Hip Hop is an idiosyncratic style of hip-hop, influenced by classical music. The music is highly experimental, and Q-Tip, a New York native, is one of the most influential figures in the genre. During the early 2000s, Q-Tip bounced from label to label, and his projects were often shelved. As record companies merged and downsized, new executives were hesitant to release experimental albums that didn't have mainstream commercial appeal. As a result, his albums remained in development. Finally, in 2009, Q-Tip signed with Universal Motown, and released his third album, "Kamaal The Abstract."

Unlike his previous releases, Abstract Hip Hop is more polished and jazzier. It's also more Tribe-esque than his debut. Although J Dilla is the inspiration for the album, it is largely a Kamaal Fareed affair, with Raphael Saadiq and D'Angel making cameos. It's a fine album, but it's far from perfect.
