Welcome to the first Minecraft 1.12 snapshot! We will be doing several more snapshots in the coming months as we continue to add new features and enhance the overall game. This snapshot is packed with several new blocks, and is a useful addition to Creative Mode. Please remember to make backups of your worlds prior to loading them in any of the snapshots. A better alternative is to always create a new world when exploring the new features!

Bugs in Minecraft can be reported to bugs.mojang.com We can't fix a bug if nobody reports it!
Open your launcher and click the "New profile" button to get snapshots. Name it "snapshots" and then click the box that reads "Enable experimental snapshots that are being developed". Save. You can change to the normal version by choosing it in the dropdown menu at the bottom left of the launcher. Backup your entire world before you play the game in a different folder (see the "new profile dialog").
