How do you get Into Minecraft Betas

Every week we release early versions of Minecraft updates to try out new features, smooth out the wrinkles and squish the bugs before they reach an even wider audience. It's a great opportunity for players like you to see the new stuff we're developing, before the official launch!



If the thought of experiencing new things for the first time has you excited, and you don't mind getting into a few bugs during the process take a look at your favorite platform below!



Be aware!



These versions are, by nature, unstable and could cause things to go wrong, weird, or wonky.



You might lose your game, or the items you've built could be corrupted. It's a small risk however it's a risk nonetheless!



These versions aren't able to access Realms and Featured Servers and can only be played in multiplayer worlds with players from the same version.





ANDROID



Disclaimer: You need to own the original Minecraft game to play the upcoming Minecraft features on Android.





Android provides an Beta program that can be joined at anytime. You can join this Beta program to replace your current Minecraft version with the Beta version.



Find the official Minecraft application on the Google Play Store to join the Android Beta. Scroll down to the "Join the Beta" section and click "Join". It will take a few seconds before you can launch your regular Minecraft application. Be aware that this could take some time, but eventually your app will be switched to the beta version. If you decide later to exit the Beta, simply go back to the Google Play store and scroll down to "You're beta-testing" and click "Leave". The app will then return to normal Minecraft.



Additionally, you might need to enable experimental features in the game to test the latest Minecraft features.





Windows 10 and 11



Disclaimer: To try new Minecraft features on Windows you'll need to own the original Minecraft video. Subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.






Java Edition




Snapshots are versions of the Java Edition. In the Minecraft Launcher, select the latest snapshot by clicking the Arrow next to the Play button on the main tab and then click the Play button.




Bedrock Edition




The Bedrock Edition has test versions that are periodically released in Minecraft Preview. You can download and access Minecraft Preview by selecting the "Minecraft Preview" tab in the Minecraft Launcher and clicking the "Install" or "Play" button.





XBOX ONE



Disclaimer: To experience the new Minecraft features on Xbox, you must own the digital version of the Minecraft game. It is part of Xbox Game Pass. Unfortunately, Preview isn't available for Disc owners.





In the Bedrock Edition, test versions are regularly put out in Minecraft Preview. Look for Minecraft Preview in the Microsoft Store and click Install on the resultant page for the product. To get started you can now open Minecraft Preview by clicking "Play Preview".





iOS

Minecraft Preview is now available for iPhones and iPads. Follow the instructions to access the slots when they are made available. We may occasionally open additional slots and we'll remove inactive users to allow new players in.



Enter the "Create New World" or "Edit World" setting. If you're creating a new world, go to the "Game" setting and scroll down to "Experiments" and then click the toggle you wish to activate. There will be a pop-up asking you to "Activate Experimental Gameplay?". Click on "Activate Experiments". If you're using an already existing world it will create a second copy of your world with "Copy ..."" added to it.

MACOS & LINUX



Disclaimer: You need to have the original Minecraft game to try out future Minecraft features on MacOS and Linux. Mycms





Snapshots are regular tests of the Java Edition. Click the arrow beside the Play button on the main tab of Minecraft to select the most current snapshot. Then click the Play button.



To test the latest Minecraft features, you may need to activate new features.



Enter the "Create a New World" setting. Click on "Data Packs" and then choose the data pack you want to play. Click on "Done" and when you arrive at the next screen, click "Create New World".
