Minecraft's silent landscaper Steve has left his blocky world and entering Telltale's world of stories: Minecraft is getting a "narrative-driven" game from the folks behind The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones games. Minecraft: Story Mode, like Telltale's other works, will be episodic and playable across a variety of platforms when it launches "sometime in 2015." Despite the acquisition, it seems that Microsoft's commitment to keep Minecraft multiplatform continues to hold.

Telltale describes the game as a collaboration with Mojang and says that it won't exist as an attachment for Minecraft. Instead it will be a standalone series "driven by player preference." Both Mojang and Telltale insist that they're working with the community to craft the story, and Mojang specifically states "We're not planning on creating an 'official' story for Steve [the main protagonist of Minecraft], or explaining the world of Minecraft in detail."
There aren't any images or video of the game's gameplay yet, but we expect a similar, distinct style of art like the style of Minecraft.
