The Unidad Obrera and Vicente Lombardo
Unidad Obrera

During the 1920s, Vicente Lombardo began his political career as a regidor at a public school. He continued working as a regidor, while he also began to write as an escritor. His 1926 book, El problema de la educacion en México, emphasized the importance of education for obreros and indigenas. He would go on to run for Congress in 1927 and spent the next few years developing his political career.

Since then, the obrero movement in Mexico has been struggling to gain social rights. In this context, Lombardo Toledano argues that union unity is crucial to achieving these goals. He also believes that the unions must work with each other to form a class consciousness among the proletariat. However, he does not want to be associated with a specific political party.

While Lombardo Toledano represents the class obrera in Mexico and Continental America, there are also multiple facets to his personality. In addition to his political clout, he is a brilliant orator who contributed greatly to building a revolutionary front. Regardless of his political affiliation, he was an honest intellectual and devoted to lucha.

Fernando Garcia Oldini

On September 20, 1937, the Comite Nacional de la Confederacion Mexicana de Trabajadores announced the first obrero congress in Mexico City. This conference was organized by the Partido Comunista Mexicano, and it was attended by the Internacional Sindical Roja, which closely watched the actions of Lombardo Tovar. As a result, the First Conference of the American Labor Congress led by Lombardo Tovar had a significant impact on the history of labor in Mexico.

Other organizations that supported the pacto included the Confederacion General del Trabajo of Argentina, Confederacion Sindical de Bolivia, and Confederacion de Trabajadores Colombianos. In addition, the pactm brought together obreras from other countries, including the Confederation Venezolana del Trabajo and the Comit de Organizacion y Unificacion Obrera Uruguay.

This university was created by Vicente Lombardo, a prominent member of Mexico's working class. He hoped to unite the obrero working class by preparing future leaders to enter politics. He also sought to educate the masses by setting up an obrero university. A centralized campus and a free and independent newspaper were the result of this struggle. And the movement didn't stop there.

La conferencia del trabajo

The Plenary sessions at the CUO are divided into three groups: the trabajador delegation, the entrepreneur delegation, and the federation of unions. Many of the government representatives are ministers of labor, while the federation of unions is made up of delegates selected by national trade unions. The conference aims to discuss the status of workers and organize them to form base congresses.

In this context, the CTC meeting was particularly important because it served as a forum to develop solidarity between Cuban and American workers and to set standards for international labor relations. The CIO, or Congreso de Organizaciones Industriales, was present, and Vicente Lombardo Toledano, the secretary general of the CTC, and United States Congressman Joseph Kowner, a representative of the unions in both countries.

The Congreso Obrero Latinoamericano was held in Mexico between 5 and 8 September 1938. The conference brought together representatives of several small federations and gremios of workers from various industries. These leaders were Angel Cofino, Ramon Granados, and Lazaro Pena. They also signed a pact that aimed to consolidate the unification of the obrera and build a stronger union movement in Cuba.
