Not content with a mere billion, Minecraft starts racking up more sales this week, when it is released as a downloadable game for Xbox One - and perhaps PS4 too. The Xbox One release date is locked in for Friday, September 5 and 360 owners of Mojang's sandbox game will upgraded at a cost of $5/PS4 The price is $5/PS4 - Microsoft states that the upgrade is available regardless of whether you own a disc or download copy. If not, the full price version costs $20/PS16.
While the PS4 release date isn't set however, Mojang's Daniel Kaplan tweeted saying that "Sony gamers can look forward to an exciting Minecraft surprise soon...or maybe sooner?" This tease came after a PlayStation France tweet claimed that the PS4 version of Minecraft would be available today. However there is no confirmation from other Sony channels have confirmed this. We'll let everyone know when we learn of a date for the PS4 version.

It is highly unlikely that the Vita version will be released this week. Last week porting team 4J Studios said it had "more work to be done" before sending the Vita version to Sony for certification.
New Minecraft versions have Minecraft worlds that are up to 36 times larger in size than the previous version. Spartan16 They also have larger draw distances. Also, PS3 and Xbox 360 owners can transfer their Minecraft worlds into the PS4 and Xbox One versions respectively.
This announcement comes at the same time that Mojang released Minecraft1.8 on PC. It's the update that's been in development for the longest at the Swedish studio at 300 days. So it's not surprising that it's a bit of a biggie, adding many changes you can browse through here. Highlights include new Guardian or Endermite mobs, balanced by the introduction - 'd’awww rabbits.
