How do you get Into Minecraft Betas

Most weeks we release early versions of Minecraft updates to test new features, smooth out the wrinkles and squash the bugs before they reach more people. It's a great way for gamers like you to experience the new stuff we're working on before it's officially launched!



If you're excited by the possibility of discovering new things, and aren't worried the possibility of encountering bugs, take a look at the platform you prefer.



But be aware:



These versions are by nature unstable, and things could be a bit odd or even plain incorrect.



It's possible to lose your game or the things you've created may be damaged. This is a small risk, but it's still a risk!



These versions do not have access to Realms or Featured Servers, and are only able to play in multiplayer worlds alongside other players on the same version of the game.





ANDROID



Disclaimer: You have to have the original Minecraft game to play the upcoming Minecraft features on Android.





Android has the Beta program that you can join at any time. It is important to note that when you join this Beta you replace your standard version of Minecraft with the Beta version.



Find the official Minecraft application on the Google Play Store to join the Android Beta. Scroll down to "Join The Beta" and click "Join". After a few minutes, start your normal Minecraft application. Be aware that this could take some time however, eventually your application will switch to the beta version. If you decide later to quit the Beta then simply go back to the Google Play store and scroll down to "You're a beta tester" and click "Leave". Your app will eventually return to normal Minecraft.



In addition, you may have to enable experimental features in the game to test the most recent Minecraft features.





Windows 10 and 11



Disclaimer: To test the latest Minecraft features on Windows you'll have to own the original Minecraft video. Subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.






Java Edition




Snapshots are tests of the Java Edition. In the Minecraft Launcher, select the most recent snapshot by clicking the icon next to the Play button on the main tab and then click the Play button.




Bedrock Edition




The Bedrock Edition has test versions that are released periodically in Minecraft Preview. You can download and use Minecraft Preview by selecting the "Minecraft Preview" tab within the Minecraft Launcher and clicking the "Install" or "Play" button.





XBOX One



Disclaimer: You must have the digital version of the Minecraft game to play the upcoming Minecraft features on Xbox It is available in Xbox Game Pass. Preview is not available to disc owners.





The Bedrock Edition includes test versions that are released periodically in Minecraft Preview. Look for Minecraft Preview in the Microsoft Store and click Install on the page that results. To begin you can now start Minecraft Preview by clicking "Play Preview".





iOS

Minecraft Preview is now available for iPads and iPhones. Follow the steps to play the slots as they are made available. We may occasionally open additional slots and we'll remove users who are not active to let new players in.



Click on the "Create New World" or "Edit World" setting. If you are creating the world from scratch, go to the "Game" setting then scroll down to "Experiments" and then click the toggle you want to activate. A pop-up will ask you if you would like to play with the game's experimental gameplay. Click on "Activate Experimental Gameplay". If you are using an existing world This will create a new copy of your world with "Copy ..."" added to it.

MACOS & LINUX



Disclaimer: You need to have the original Minecraft game to play the upcoming Minecraft features on MacOS and Linux.





Snapshots are the regular tests of the Java Edition. In the Minecraft Launcher, select the most recent snapshot by clicking the arrow next to the Play button on the main tab. Then the click the Play button.



You may need to activate experimental features in the game to test the most recent Minecraft features.



Enter the "Create New World" setting. Click on "Data packs" to select the data pack you would like to play. Click on "Done" and when you arrive at the next screen, click on "Create New World".
