Avril Lavigne and Mon Sun get Punk on the Red Carpet at VMAs

Mod Sun and Avril lavigne attended the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards in New Jersey on Sunday.



While posing for cameras, the 37-year old hitmaker and her 35-year-old fiancé wore matching chains on their pants.



The Sk8er Boi was nominated for Best Alternative Video. Maneskin is an Italian band, won the award.

Lavigne wore the black long-sleeved t-shirt and an accompanying pair of wide-legged pants.

Mod Sun opted for a almost all-denim look which included a button-up jacket and a slightly larger pair of jeans.



Standing out: Lavigne wore an unusual long-sleeved t-shirt in black that was tied into wide-legged, matching pants.

The songwriter, born Derek Ryan Smith, added an element of darkness to his appearance by wearing black leather shoes.



The singer completed his look with a white undershirt and a selection of jewelry.



Lavigne was nominated to the Best Alternative Video Award for her visuals for Love It When You Hate me.



The song was the second single from her new album Love Sux and featured rapper Blackbear The song was released in June.

The award was not given to the track, however it was presented to Maneksin for their contribution to the clip of their song I Wanna Be Your Slave.



Not picked: Although the track was put up for consideration for the award, it was ultimately given to Maneksin for their work on the clip for their song I Want to Be Your Slave
