Minecraft Jungle Biomes Explained

Jungles are among the largest and most diverse biomes in Minecraft. Here are the steps for finding the Jungle in Minecraft. Also, what you can expect once you are in it.

The information contained in this article applies to all versions of Minecraft including Minecraft: Pocket Edition.

How to Find a Jungle in Minecraft

Jungles are a rare event in Minecraft. Like the majority of biomes in Minecraft, Jungles have no set location, but they generally have a higher likelihood of spawning close to Savannas, Mesas, and Desert biomes. The large number of tall trees that make up the Jungles make them instantly obvious. They will nearly cover the roof of the Jungle with their leaves.

A tool that is external called Biome Finder can help you locate the exact location of Jungle biomes.

Jungle Trees

Jungle trees can grow to 30 blocks in height and can be climbed by players by using vines. The biggest Jungle trees are constructed of four blocks that extends upwards, so you can get 120 blocks of wood from a single tree. Jungle trees are also ideal bases for treehouses.

The wood takes a slight pinkish-red tint when the tree's Jungle Wood is refined and transformed into Jungle Wood Planks. The only unique feature of the Jungle Wood Planks is their color. They can be transformed into many tools and objects, just like all Planks. You can also create color variations for items like Doors, Boats, and Stairs.

Jungle Types

Jungles biomes come in different variations:

- Regular Jungle - Jungle Hills

- Jungle Edge

- Bamboo Jungles

Jungle Hills are more dangerous than normal Jungle biomes. When you're on the Jungle Hill, it's best to stay crouched down on the ground until you have an option to keep yourself in the air. The trees in the Edge variants are more closely. Bamboo Jungles are mini-biomes that exist within regular Jungles where the trees are smaller and you are more likely to see pandas.

Jungle Ocelots

Only the Jungle biome is home to Ocelots. Ocelots can be hard to locate due to the denseness of the trees and bushes. However, they are worth the effort to locate as they will scare off Minecraft Creepers who try to sneak up on them.

Slowly slowly approach an Ocelot with a raw fish to capture it. Once the mob has seen you and isn't running away, stop and stay in the same spot. Let the Ocelots approach you, and then feed them, gaining their trust.

Jungle Temples

In some Jungle biomes, you will find mysterious structures made out of Mossy Cobblestone or Chiseled Stone Bricks. These Jungle Temples are filled with traps as well as treasure, puzzles, and more. You will find items such a Arrows and Bones as well as Rotten Flesh and Saddles.

Jungle Plants

Cocoa plants are exclusive to the Jungle biome and are found on the sides of Jungle Trees. There are three types of Cocoa plants: a small medium-sized, yellow-orange and ready-to harvest dark orange-brown types. The harvested Cocoa can be used for making recipes for food, changing the color of food items and other items. Cocoa Beans can be used only on Jungle Wood If you plan to bring it out of the Jungle to establish an agricultural enterprise, you must bring a few pieces of Jungle Wood with you.
