To install the OptiFine Mod for Minecraft as an independent configuration (without Minecraft Forge), ensure you're running the most recent version of Minecraft and then update to the most recent version if you don't. Next start the Minecraft Launcher, click the Launch Options tab, and select Latest Release. Click the "Game Directory" button, highlight the directory and press Control + C (PC or Mac) to copy the URL. Close the Launcher, open your browser, and navigate to the official download page for OptiFine: https://optifine.net/downloads.php. Click the Download link, click Save or OK to begin the download, then wait for a few seconds for the download process to finish. Double-click the downloaded file (which ends in .jar) to run the OptiFine installer. To copy the installer's correct directory Press Control + V (PC or Mac) and Command + V (Mac). If you're looking to install the OptiFine Mod for Minecraft and you're running the Minecraft Forge mod already, the procedure is slightly different. First, make sure that you have the latest Minecraft version installed. If you don't have it, you can upgrade to the most recent version. Next, open your web browser and navigate to the official download page for OptiFine: https://optifine.net/downloads.php. Click the Download link, and select Save or OK to begin the download. Take a few minutes until it is completed. After that, open your Minecraft mods folder and copy the OptiFine .jar file you just downloaded by pressing Control + C (PC) or Command + C (Mac). Right-click (or Control + click) a blank area inside of the mods folder and select Paste to copy the OptiFine .jar file into your mods folder. Now OptiFine can be used with Minecraft Forge.
