Mojang's Minecraft can be costly and challenging to play with your friends. It is all about how you configure it. The developer created Minecraft Realms to simplify the installation process and provide a straightforward way to play with up to 10 friends.





What Is a Minecraft Realm?


Minecraft Realms are Mojang's answer to hosting the Minecraft server. Playing Minecraft with your friends on the internet has never been more simple. For a fee of $7.99 per month or a one-time fee for 30or 90 or 180-day plans, Mojang sets up and hosts a private, always-online server for you and your friends. Only people you invite are able to play in your world, and your friends are free to play in your realm.



Each server has all the features you'd expect in a normal Minecraft experience, plus much more. Each of Minecraft's game modes (Survival Creative, Adventure, Survival, and Spectator) are available. In addition, mini-games developed by Mojang are preloaded on the Minecraft Realms setup.



Realms is currently not able to offer the Minecraft Hardcore Mode.





The Pros of Minecraft Realm Play


One of the advantages of using Minecraft Realms rather than a third-party server is the ease of use. When optimizing a third-party server it is common to go onto a website to alter settings and try to find the perfect configuration.



With Minecraft Realms, everything is optimized in the Minecraft client itself. You can invite people to join your server, switch to an Mojang mini-game and upload your world and customize any other settings within the client.



Realms does not support mods, which is a major drawback. Modifications to Minecraft are a vital part of the Minecraft experience. This can create problems for gamers who want to allow their friends to play the Aether Mod.





Minecraft Realms Security


Do not be afraid of uninvited guests that could ruin your life. You are only able to invite players to your Minecraft Realm server. You can easily add or remove players from the secure list as the host.



To ensure server security the worlds are automatically backup.



You can invite up to 200 players to your server. However, only 10 can play at any one time.





Minecraft Realms Platform Compatibility


Two versions of Minecraft Realms are available from Mojang:



Minecraft Realms version for consoles, mobile devices and Windows 10 platforms


Minecraft: Java Edition available for PC, Mac, or Linux platforms



The two versions are not compatible, so players using Minecraft: Java Edition on a Mac or a pre-Windows 10 PC cannot play with players on consoles or mobile devices.



If you are looking for a basic gaming experience, Minecraft Realms is a great and legitimate solution to managing and creating an Minecraft server. Hosting your own server offers an alternative for users to third-party server hosts.



Minecraft Realms is not for everyone. If you are into modding, you should stick to a host that allows you to make those adjustments.
