Minecraft Steve Head Costume
A few years ago, my son told me he wanted to be Steve from Minecraft. It seemed like a simple enough costume: turquoise t-shirt, jeans, and a huge cardboard head. He already had the t-shirt and the jeans, so all I really needed to do was buy the Steve head. I found an Minecraft Steve head online for $50 and thought, "Oh hell no...I'm going to make it less than the price!" So here it is...a simple guide to making your own Minecraft Steve Head.
Before I dive into this I'm like I have to apologize. I made this for my son I was unaware that it would be featured on my blog. I didn't even take photos for a tutorial. INFO I didn't even get great photos of the head itself. It's a simple assembly, even with no step-by-step pictures.
Accessories for Steve Minecraft Head Costume
Before you can begin you'll require:
Tee-shirt in turquoise – Jeans – glue – 16x16 cardboard box. Cardstock in the following colors:whitecreamlight tan.Tan.- light brown.- brown.Dark brown.Very dark brown.The red. (I notice that I used red, so I can't have been able locate reddish-brown at Michaels.)
The box was 16x16x16 inches and because there were eight squares across and down pictured I knew my squares had to be 2x2. I had my paper cutter on my disposal and spent the following hour cutting lots of squares.
I used regular school glue to attach to the box. It seemed to work out just fine.
Cut the eyes off!
The real test...can you take your baby sister trick or treating without the head falling off? Yes. Yes you can.
This project can require some time to complete But it's really easy and it's something you can with your kids to do together.
Our Steve head was the perfect table decoration for his Minecraft party. It has been in my son's room for six years and has lasted. It was definitely worth the time it took!
My son was so obsessed with Minecraft that he carved an Minecraft themed pumpkin. Gretl the daughter of Gretl from "Sound of Music" was not too certain about it...
