How to Allocate more RAM To Minecraft

How to allocate more RAM to Minecraft

You have some RAM to spare But Minecraft doesn't use it? In this tutorial, you'll learn an easy way to add more RAM to Minecraft.

If you are an avid Minecraft player, you may have noticed that your game uses minimal RAM. If you install mods to improve the game's properties or to enhance gameplay, such as adding new objects, mobs or world generators it may cause the game to stop instantly. This is because the game needs more RAM than you have.

Minecraft is developed in Java therefore you need to have both the 32-bit and 64-bit version installed in Java so that you can increase the available RAM of the game.

The process of increasing the RAM available to Minecraft is easy, but you should take into account the memory of your device, as you should not give up more than 50% of the memory of your device. It is not recommended to give up more than 2GB for a computer with 4GB RAM.

Do you want to allocate more RAM to use Shaders? Check this in-depth article on How to install Shaders in Minecraft.

How to Allocate More RAM to Minecraft

On this guide I will demonstrate how to increase the RAM used by Minecraft step-by-step in the most recent Minecraft launcher version.

If you are using an older Minecraft launcher version or use another launcher besides the official, you can follow the same procedure, but you will need to find the arguments options by yourself.

Let's get started without further delay.

Step 1: Check for Memory Memory

This is the first step. However, if you know the amount of memory your computer has, you are able to move to the next step.

Open the File Explorer and right-click on " This PC" then in the menu, click Properties.

A new window will open, and there you need to navigate to the section System. You can see the memory available on your system in the line Installed memory (RAM)

Now, something that you must take into account is that you shouldn't use too much memory in Minecraft.

Half of your memory is a good choice. In this case I will only use 2GB from my 4GB Ram.

Step 2: Allocate More Memory

In these steps, I will explain how to increase the ram on Minecraft using the official launcher.

More Options

button to apply the changes. ayakanihei Now you can click the Play button to start Minecraft

8. Once you are in the game, confirm that you have allocated the memory by pressing F3.

Conclusions

Minecraft is a thrilling game with a variety of mods that you can download within it, however, if you do this you could face some issues with RAM since, by default, the game only allocated 2GB of RAM.
