Minecraft Snapshot 17w47b

This week's image shows the long-awaited "flattening" that is set to completely end everything. Sorry. Backups are highly recommended.

Implemented command suggestions for blocks and item arguments
May has broken everything


Chat Settings now has an option to turn off automatic command suggestions (defaults to on, if not hit the tab)


- Most likely, you've broken everything


- Completely and completely removed the concepts "block data" and "item data".


- Definitely broke everything!


- Split up and renamed almost every item and block


- Absolutely broke everything


We now have the option to add more blocks to the future! Hurrah!


There are new blocks but I'd like to insist on that

This image should be considered "extremely experimental". On a scale of 1-10, where 1 is experimental and 10 is stable, this is a very firm negative 5.



Backup your worlds before trying them out in this snapshot. Do not expect worlds from this snapshot to work in the next snapshots.





But seriously

This snapshot is the result of several years of internal refactoring that allowed us to use almost unlimited block & item IDs. We fully anticipate that everything will fail. Make backups.

Install the snapshot

Please report any bugs you encounter in Minecraft to bugs.mojang.com. If nobody reports bugs, we aren't able to fix it!



Open your launcher, and then click the "launch options tab" to download snapshots. Save the box that reads "Enable snaps" . To switch between the normal and snapshot version, there is a new dropdown menu right next to the "Play" button. Backup your world first, or run the game in a different folder (in the "launch options") page.
