The Xbox One, PS4 and Vita versions of Minecraft will be available in August for $20, Mojang announced today. The game will cost $5 on Xbox One and PS4 for players who have Minecraft on Xbox 360 and PS3. The Vita edition is a cross-buy game, which means that if you already have Minecraft on PS3 you can play it on Vita for no cost. All PS3 DLC is compatible with the Vita edition, however, not all skins or texture packs can be played on PS4 and Xbox One versions due to licensing agreements.
Minecraft: Xbox One and PS4 editions include larger worlds than current-gen versions, and both allow users to import saved data from Xbox 360 and PS3 + Vita games and PS3 + Vita games, respectively. However, saves won't transfer from next-gen systems to current-gen ones.
"There are technical reasons for this: we can make worlds bigger without stress, but reducing them creates all sorts of issues," Mojang says.
