Minetest is the free and open source game engine voxel, inspired originally by Minecraft it's gradually becoming larger and better with plenty of available games for it. Minetest 5.4.0 is getting a new release. They've released their first Release Candidate. This is the time they need as many people to test it and ensure it runs effectively.
When Minetest 5.0 released in 2019 it included an in-game interface to download mods and games. It worked, and they improved it with each time, but the main pain point was the dependency system. A mod would require another one, and the cycle continues. It was a pain to find them all, but it is now much simpler. The 5.4 release features a new interface for downloading mods and games, along with the resolution of dependency issues, an update to all capabilities, and download queues.

It can make it a huge amount easier, and quicker too. It lets you customize your Minetest experience. Do you want to incorporate every possible modification into the core Minetest game. It's worth a try. You may also want to play a complete conversion game. You can also try an entire game of conversion.
This could be a good way to motivate me to play more Minetest!
A few more things that are new includes:
- Improve input binding, allow mouse bindings - Semi-transparent background to nametags - Mapgen Flat: Add caverns, disabled by default. ContentDB: Add an overwrite dialog when content is already installed - Lots of modding enhancements - Security improvements
