Fact #2: The highlight of the NFL Football season is the Super Bowl which is made up each year of the divisional champions from the AFC (American Football Conference) and the NFC (National Football Conference) - they meet at a neutral venue to decide the Super Bowl champion, the dream of every NFL fan.
According to 2008 records, NFL football is twice as popular as baseball with fans and spectators. Auto racing is a treble. These numbers alone are a testament to the amazing phenomenon that NFL Football is and why every fan wants a chance at being a part.
Fact #4: Why in the world is the Pro Football Hall of Fame based in Canton, Ohio? The Canton Bulldogs won two NFL championships (1922 and 1923) between the years 1921-1923. They went 25 games without losing (22 wins, 3 tie-breaks) In fact, NFL legend Jim Thorpe played for them during that time. As of now, their unbeaten streak is the longest in NFL history! Because of their early success, the NFL gambling decided to place the Hall of Fame at Canton, Ohio.
Fact #5: Although the football was initially larger and more round, the league wanted it to be easier for players to pass. In 1934, the ball was made longer and more skinny.
Fact #6. Although the media labeled the AFL-NFL championship matches as "Super Bowls", the term was not used to refer to the major game until the third Super Bowl, when the AFL team of the New York Jets beat the NFL team of the Baltimore Colts in the championship match between the two leagues.
Fact #7: The Dallas Cowboys are the second most valuable sports franchise in the world with a reported value of $2.5 million
Fun fact: Pizza delivery on Super Bowl Sunday was 54% higher than normal Sundays. During the Super Bowl half-time, an estimated 100 million people flush their toilets. That's 200 million gallons of water flowing at once.
