Learning about your country's government and government is not always the most thrilling thing you can do. This is why the Danish Geodata Agency recreated the entire country of Denmark in 1:1 scale within Minecraft to make learning more enjoyable. See, despite the DGA switching off dynamite on the map they created which comprised more than 4 trillion blocks and 1 terabyte of data - intrepid Minecraft gamers discovered that the game's in-game carts carrying dynamite were still active. By exploiting this vulnerability, players bombed areas of virtual Denmark towns, often putting American flags and tanks in their stead. Classy.
DGA spokesman Chris Hammeken told UK news site The Register that only minor areas were affected, and that the DGA is not planning to restart the map. "We believe that this is a nature of playing Minecraft - elements are destroyed and new are being created," Hammeken said. "Therefore we won't restart the demo of Denmark in Minecraft. We will occasionally rebuild small areas, if structures have been removed and no new structures are being constructed.
