To bring awareness to the dire state of mangroves and the significant benefits they bring, Minecraft created Rooted Together, an interactive map where players can explore a mangrove-based ecosystem in-game.
Players can plant mangroves, monitor CO2 levels and even see new species of wildlife in the game, resulting in an interactive display of how climate trends and biodiversity are dependent on the health of the mangrove habitat. The more mangroves the players plant the less likely climate change will be and the more animals can return to their homes.
Supporting Conservation at TNC
In addition to the in-game interaction with mangrove ecosystems, Mojang Studios will be contributing $200,000 to TNC to help us achieve our mission. Tlauncher In July, Minecraft creators hosted their own charity streams, reaching more than 350,000 live viewers and 33,500 viewers on video-on-demand. The creators played Minecraft live and informed viewers about the importance mangroves worldwide. They also shared some of the efforts TNC has made to restore and protect this vital ecosystem.
