Sublime is a legend. They sold more than seventeen million albums around the world. They also released five compilation albums and one live album. There is much more to the Sublime story that the albums.

The band was formed in Long Beach, California in 1988 with Eric Wilson, Bud Gaugh, and Bradley Nowell. The band's ethos was to open the doors to all types of people and host an endless house party. The lineup of the band remained unchanged up to 1996. The remaining members decided to reorganize the band in 2009. 40oz was the group's debut studio album. To Freedom was released and became a platinum-selling album.

The band released two EPs in the 1990s and started recording their third album. In 1993, the single "Badfish", was released. It shows a red koi cutting across the waves. The cover artwork was filled with sun. This image has become synonymous with the Southern California beach scene and is used today as a shorthand to describe the beach culture.
