Readers Have Ideas for WoW Improvements

A little ago WoW Insider posted an article asking readers to suggest things they'd like to see added to WoW to improve the game. We were very excited to hear your responses, and you didn't let us down. Several commenters had what we thought were some great ideas, and we thought we'd pull them out for some further discussion.

This is, to my mind, a fantastic idea. When leveling an DPS character, I have been unable to decide between wanting to complete the story in a particular area and then continuing with my leveling. With the speed at which you can level in WoW right now with the buffs gained from heirlooms, guild perks and such, it's really easy to level zones before you've finished the story. You can ignore the gray mobs, gray quests and be far more efficient if you move on to another zone. But it's not the best choice.

It's also possible to go back to old zones or old content at 90, but there's something to be said for playing zones at levels. This could make the game more immersive and more rich in story and replay value. Players will be able to spend longer in each zone, and have more areas to explore and new characters to experience.

This was a suggestion made by a lot of commenters, not only ladyjbritish. Like the previous suggestion, it seems like an extremely sensible idea. It's possible to send one toon to a different server to try it out or to try out a raiding guild, or similar however in the long run if the new server is compatible, it's not a surprise that players would like to take their whole team over to their new home.

A different commenter said that they would like to see such an option available at a cost less than that of a new game and it's a reasonable argument. It makes sense that people would see the new game as an alternative to staying on an old server or paying an enormous amount of money to transfer characters, or to purchase a new game for a much lower price. Yes, you could start over on a different server but it's a huge wrench to leave your team of alts behind.

A similar change is planned for a patch to come out, where players will be able to queue for several different LFR sections at once However, MaikS89 goes further, stating that players ought to be able queue on offline characters. At first, I'm awestruck by the idea, it's an excellent way to save time, especially for DPS who suffer extremely long queues. There are downsides to this concept, but they're far less obvious than the other ideas. It could encourage people not to play a character as often. It is possible to queue for LFR and queue for other content. However, it seems too extreme to let an offline character into the queue.

On the other hand, it would allow players who have an main that needs some LFR gear, or valor, and several other alts who need equipment for leveling or other, to finish all that in a shorter amount of time. I'm not sure what to make of this.

Now this one is a much more secure idea. It could be a challenge for server economies if players transfer large quantities of gems and other materials from one server to another to benefit from better markets. However, it appears that this is a possibility that could be restricted. It would be great to have an account-wide bank that new characters could draw from or allow heirlooms to be transferred to other characters. This would resolve a variety of issues with minor inconveniences but a significant improvement in the quality of life.

This one is, perhaps an unusual request. Personally I would like to be able to play across both regions. This allows me to play in-game with my friends from the EU and those in the US using the same accounts. I don't have to create accounts specifically for the US to trans-atlantically play. wowdad.net Although the ping might not be the most efficient however, I can still play on US PTR servers and on live servers with minimal difficulty. This could be applied to other games too to allow for accounts that can be played across regions. This is an excellent idea!
