Minecraft meet-up in Peterborough described as 'awful'
14 September 2015
Parents who are furious about Minecraft gamers have posted on social media to complain about "awful" queues and a lack to do during an unofficial convention.
About 4,100 people took part in MineVention at the Peterborough Arena on Saturday to meet the stars and play games.
However, a lot of people said they waited for hours to meet idols or eat food , and demanded refunds.
Organiser Lisa O'Brien said the queues were long, and she'll issue a statement on refunds in due course.
The event, which isn't endorsed or associated with Minecraft developer Mojang, started in Ireland and this was its first time in the UK.

It offered fans of the worldwide gaming sensation Minecraft - where players build various objects using cubic blocks - the opportunity to meet the world's most famous "Youtubers" and take photos and play games.
The event, which featured TV's Gadget Show presenter Jason Bradbury as well as a call to fans to dress as the game's character Steve to try to break a world record.

However, it was criticized on social media for long lines, a lack of food and merchandise stalls, and other issues.
Vicky Abraham shared on Facebook that she waited with her five-year-old son for over an hour and only 30 seconds on a computer.
Another parent said she had to wait 45 minutes for a water bottle and that the whole experience was "appalling" with nothing to do. Another person contacted the BBC to inform them that they left after half an hour because the lines were so terrible, and that her son was "crying all the way to home".
Some posted on Facebook but they were satisfied, with one comment: "I thought you put on a great event for PS15."
Lisa O'Brien of O'Brien Event Management said that she sympathized with parents since we all have kids. Due to the huge number of people that showed up on the day instead of purchasing tickets in advance, queues were 45 minutes long, she explained.
She claimed that the event was unprecedented in scale and that some official merchandise didn't arrive in time for the event to take place.
She said the organisers had "taken on everyone's comments and suggestions" and were scheduled to meet to work out the reasons for the incident, and that a new statement would be released on Monday evening.
