Minecraft Texture Packs: Building Creative Constructions with Improved Graphics

Minecraft is an online game that allows its player to build constructions made of textured cubes in an environment that is three-dimensional. Mojang is an Swedish firm, released the first version of Minecraft in May 2009. Strongcraft In December of 2010, a second beta version was released. Recently, Mojang released the latest version of Minecraft for iOS and Android platforms on November 18, 2011 at the MineCon 2011 trade show. The game is not supported by all Android-based devices. Minecraft is currently only available on Xperia Play.



Graphically, there is nothing too impressive about Minecraft. The game is available in low-resolution graphics and you will not find any shades within the game's graphics. However with Minecraft Texture Packs or Mods that can be used, the drawbacks are able to be overcome. The Minecraft Texture Mods and Packs don't just give you more choices of backgrounds from the Minecraft world. The Mods also improve the resolution of the images. The Mods are only used to alter the graphics. You can make your gaming experience more enjoyable and less boring by using different backgrounds. These Mods or texture packs are currently only available for Macs and Windows computers.



There are a variety of texture packs available to download and install on your Minecraft game. One of them is Optifine. The Optifine mod is very popular due to its texture pack having both enhanced performance and graphic characteristics. In reality, the change is not drastic. The mod can, however, smoothen some aspects of the game. Water Shade Alpha is another example of an Minecraft mod. This mod is not compatible with Optifine because they are not compatible. Water Shade Alpha texture pack makes the water effects in the game appear more realistic.



These are the steps needed to install a texture pack on Windows.



1. Make sure you have an extractor application like WinRar.



2. Open the Start bar and click "run" option. If you use Windows XP, type "%appdata%.minecraftbin"; if you use Windows Vista or 7, you will need to type "C:Users*YourUserName*AppDataRoaming.minecraftbin".



3. After you type in the information, you will be able to see a folder appear. Inside, you will find minecraft.jar within it.



4. Right click the file and click the "Open with ..." option from the pop up menu and select "WinRar Archiver". This will open WinRar, which will display folders and files with a png extension.



5. Drag the textures from the pack and drop them into WinRar directly. This will alter the texture of the game. The new textures will then be ready for play.
