Minecraft Steve has a Beard Once More

He also polished his shoes, but was unable to properly tie his shirt.

For the first time in more than ten years, iconic Minecraft (opens in new tab) default skin/character Steve has a beard, via the most recent update to Minecraft's upcoming version. There are some minor adjustments to the texture of the skins for Alex and Steve in the beta launcher. This is a massive difference.

Steve is now sporting, once again, that iconic beard. The sleeves are rolled up or cuffed and a little color definition on crucial areas such as the arms, shoes, and chest. Maybe they've polished the shoes. It's difficult to say all that dust isn't it?

Alex is, however, sporting the same cuffs on his sleeves, as well as more contrasting colors on most of their clothes. Alex's hair is highlighted due to the layers and the depth.

Everyone has been affected by the multi-year-old global pandemic. Minecraftservers A lot of people thought that this was a key time to grow a beard since they weren't leaving the house or even going out. This includes, it seems, Minecraft Steve. Is that canon or something? It's not. It was a prank.

Steve's beard was gone for the first time in 2009, a year before Alex was introduced to the world. However the beard was visible in official artwork. The show even came to life when they inserted Steve into Super Smash Brothers.

Welcome back, beardy Steve. The fans seem excited. (opens in an entirely new tab)

In other Minecraft news, we've rounded up the best texture packs (opens in a new tab) for the long-running survival game. There's also a bit of a trend of restoring ruin as players make improvements to both out of game historical castles (opens in new tab) and the new in-game ancient ruin sites. (opens in new tab)
